FMRS Radio -- MOTD Specific

OK -- before this gets bumped to the radio and navigation site, I would just like to know specifically for the MOTD -- which FMRS radios work best for the event. I have a couple of units but I've permanently attached them to my motorbike so I have to go buy some additional units.

Given that I have to buy some, please advise which ones should I buy? I'm going to buy the one that has the most recommendations by midnight Wednesday (if I can get'em). It would be helpful if the ones recommended were available from the web (i.e., Amazon, Newegg, etc.).

Your suggestions please.

Take a look at Arangers setup here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...epeater-2.html
He's got links to http://www.gmrsoutlet.com/home.php

I've got something similar and it will give you hands down the best performance. Part 90 GMRS radios, with the proper antenna outside the car and 45 watts transmit power not 2.5 watts are going to cut through the hils and brush much better than any handheld.

If you can find one still offered Icom also made an F21GM that was the best performing handheld out there for quite a while, but it was discontinued last summer (I bought one as soon as I found out and have been thrilled with it as well) so you've got to really look to find a new one. But the GMRS outlet will program the other comparable performing handhelds.

If you need an FRS only radio (license free) then any bubblepack radio will preform the same as they are limited to fixed antennas and .5 watts. FRS/GMRS combination radios require a license to operate legally, even on FRS only frequencies.
