Drivetrain JCW exhaust price?
JCW exhaust price?
Can't find what it would cost to get a JCW exhaust installed new. A clubmate is selling his and said he let me have it for half of what a new one would cost (only has 3000 miles). Problem is I can't find a good price for it anywhere.
Ideas?

I'm sorry I don't recall the price. It was a while ago when I saw that on there site. Seems like the R53 JCW stuff is becoming harder to find these days. My thought would be $200 should be about right for 1/2 price, but that is just a guess.
If it is going to cost much more than that I'd go with a new aftermarket exhaust rather that a used JCW. My .02.

Over the counter price for the back section minus the middle resonator is just under $400.00 new. Just buy a new clamp from MINI ( really nice clamps
) They are an easy bolt up for a DIY.
If you want the whole system it costs just under $800 for the whole deal. I currently run just the back section with no resonator and it works / sounds just perfect.

Well, initially you can avoid some of the fitment issues of a few aftermarket systems. I used MINI clamps as well. These clamps are well made and have a nice clean look to them. You can't beat the price. And....it is a very well made stock part specifically tuned for our engines. My set up is painted with high temp black paint, and the tips are powder coated black....
( Thanks Partsman ! )
But I have since added a set of R56 tips to the back which REALLY fill up that notch in the rear bumper

In my case, the center pipe of my former stock R53 was cut to accomodate the new back section of the JCW exhaust. Easily done.

Improvement in performance over the one ball mod was very noticible. I already had a 17 pulley, JCW intake so this was a natural order of progression. Made me wonder why I went with the one ball mod to begin with. (one ball does sound better over stock )
Now that I have added the JCW 380's and a Unichip flashed for stock JCW, it is all tied in very nicely. And since I had all the other JCW stuff; Brakes/Suspension/Dash/Down Tubes, it seemed to be the way to go for me.
BTW: No bad highway drone, and it does not sound tinny either. Both issues of concern for most. I will try to make a video clip for ya tomorrow.

Correction....under $600 for the short rear section. The center section w/resonator is under $400.00. I would call your dealer since the whole system has been sold regularly for about $700.00 lately. I would think the short rear section should be closer to 4.
This is the actual part no for the JCW rear section. # 18207545128.

The R56 tips in GrayRavens car look NICE!!
It really looks MANLY and it fills the cutouts nicely!!
From what I have heard the JCW is a nice sounding exhaust....a bit quiet for some with the resonator (it had to meet the stringent euro noise standards), and from what I have been told, it is a good fitting, well built part...heck it is a JCW part...but like Many OEM parts, the quality has a price!!

One just popped up in the marketplace for 400 bucks for the whole thing in good condition....looks like a deal. If it was local to me I'd ****** that up.
Although just getting the rear sections sounds like a cool/cheap idea.

I don't think there are any clear answers as to what is the best exhaiust. In my opnion you can break the exhaust purchasing decision into 3 categories:
1. Sound - this is a purely personal thing. What sounds great to one person is intollerable to another. I took the resonator off my 06 JCW becasue I felt the sound was too tame. With the resonator off it was certainly louder but I hated the way it pinged and popped. I therefore replaced the JCW from the cat back with a Larini. This has a center resonator and is definitely louder than the JCW, but I love the way it sounds.
2. Looks - The Larini exhause tips are ghastly. I therefore had a local shop weld some extensions so I could re-install the JCW tips, which in my opinion are the best looking. Again - this is purely a personal choice.
3. Performance - The additional perfomance of the Larini exhaust over the JCW was instantly noticeable. I then replaced the stock header with a Larini header and
. Even more performance. This isn't personal - it's undeniable! I love it.
I still have the JCW exhaust, if anyone is interested!

Engine cold....it settles down once it's warmed up though.

For original post question, reference this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...w-exhaust.html. As for other aftermarker, go with Miltek or Invidia (what I have; love the blued tips).
Thanks,

That is unless my wife has other ideas for my time.

Just to be on the safe side, if your bolts that hold the exhaust on are very rusty you may want to source some stainless steel ones to replace them with. I was able to reuse the gasket & bolts, but my car was only a year old when I did the swap to the JCW.
