WTB: Sport pack late 90's Classic Mini interior

So I just got my second Mini, a 1990 (registered 79) British Racing edition Mini. It's got a 998 and a 1275 is being transplanted in it right now. The car is solid and is being resprayed BRG as well. The interior though is a complete wreck and needs to be sorted.

I'd like to replace it with late 90s sport pack seats. A dashboard and door cards can easily be found new. Anyone know anyone selling sport pack seats or seats similar to these? I wouldn't be objected to finding seat covers that look nice and actually replace the covers now in the car once the seats have been stripped down. How about the steering wheel?

I've included a picture of what it looks like now and the look I'm going for. Thanks!

I would just take the picture of the seat you posted to a classic auto upholstery shop and they should be able to replicate it with little trouble. The steering wheel you posted has an airbag I'm pretty sure so that's not gonna work. This one is pretty similar in design but quite different in color.

I personally think that your current dash is way cooler than the newer one. Maybe that is because it is an early 90's Rover Mini Sprite interior, like the "Bourne Mini."

thats a great idea. it would probably be cheaper to have them redone than buy new seats all together. lovin the steering wheel too. thanks!

How'd the install go? Just stripped off the old and replaced with the new? How was the fit?

My brother has just ordered Vinyl covers for a Mk1 Minivan restoration and is pleased with the quality and price so far but has he not fitted them yet, so can't really comment until then. You strip off the old covers and then fit the new. They also seem very helpful and willing to do custom covers to your requirements.

ok. i did a little research on these folks, as the price is certainly right and came across this blog about their experience. if you look at their pictures on flickr, looks like they just stripped the seats down, replaced them with the new covers and they look great! stripping it down is certainly an option too as you can spray some of the fittings, etc to make them look much newer and not all banged up and faded.

BTW, obviously you folks are responding because you have classic minis... whats with the lack of classic mini talk? it seems to be primarily folks with BINIs on one particular thread.

is there a more active US based classic mini forum anyone visits regularly?

You can change your user profile preferences to do it the other way.

This is what I did: Looked at www.ebay.co.uk, British ebay, and found a complete interior front/rear seats, all door cards for sale, black/silver, just like your pic, bid on it and got it $600.00 Found a shipper to ship it to Miami and got it 2 months latter $550.00 shipping costs. Had the seller wrap them and box them. I've had them for 5 years and they still look great. I did sell my seats which were the "black lighting" cloth/leather seats for $1,100.00 so it worked out for me. Since then I've seen a few complete sets on ebay and Mini World magazine for sale. Those seats have a different shape than a typical Mini seat so just having your seats re-upolstered will not make it.
