2001 RARE ROVER MINI COOPER 500, LAST MINI EVER MADE __FOR SALE!__
You are viewing the only mini cooper sport 500 in the United States with only 14,500 miles! This car is limited edition and a true collectors car. It has won many awards in Great Britain where it came from, I haven't entered it at any here but I am sure it would take 1st without a doubt.
Re-introduced in 1990 following a 19-year absence from the Mini range, the sporting Cooper models achieved a new popularity and cult status. Employing a fuel injected version of the 1,275cc A-series engine, which, with development, was tweaked to produce up to 90bhp, a number of ‘special edition’ versions were produced. As a final edition, marking the end of production in 2000, a special series of 500 ‘Cooper Sports’ was produced - before the introduction of the ‘BMW’ Minis. This ‘Sports 500’ series was equipped to a high standard. This example is finished in British Racing green with platinum roof and stripes, and is equipped with a full bank of rally-style fog and spot lamps, wide wheel arch extensions and 13-inch Minilite-style alloy wheels. The well-appointed cabin features black and ‘titanium’ leather upholstery, alloy fittings, engine turned effect alloy dashboard, chrome bezel gauges and a commemorative plaque inside the glovebox lid. Also has the back window brake light, leveling headlamps and the only rover mini with airbags! This exceptional one-owner vehicle, first registered in April 2001, has seem minimal use with just 14,500 miles recorded at the time of writing, recent mileage being accrued through regular exercise on private roads. Accompanying the car is original Mini commemorative memorabilia, including: build spec. sheets, Mini classic sales brochure, framed certificate of authenticity signed by John Cooper and Kevin Howe (then CEO of MG Rover), Mini ‘T’ shirt, mini sweatshirt, and suede peaked cap with Mini badge (unopened, never worn) and also a ‘Mini Cooper Sports 500’ shoulder bag containing: owner’s handbook pack, Mini Key ring, Mini sewing kit, Mini leatherman and a Mini perfume dispenser all unopened. All this comes with the mini and I have taken pictures of everything. I was planning on keeping this for a long time as an investment but having been laid off work has forced the sale. Car is located in Berwick Maine and has been stored in a heated garage with a cover. Car has been wax oiled on the bottom and behind the wheel arches from new so there is no rust what so ever. It has never seen a spot of rain. It is totally untampered with and complete with its original exhaust and tires, leather interior and radio etc. The only thing I added are the clip-on mini cooper covers on the fog lamps, just to cover them from rock chips or anything. It always puts a smile on peoples faces when I go by. It is a work of art and pictures don't even compare to real life. Please email me with any questions or more pictures of anything you would like to see. The car is registered in Maine. Email me at Paulrd277@Hotmail.com for pictures or inquires.
Thank You

it amazes me that in 2010 people are still posting listings without pictures! Seems like it has become so easy these days, with the abundance of digital cameras and even moderate-quality mobile phone cameras plus a forum that makes it very easy to attach images if you don't have somewhere else to host them (which is also readily available these days).

When I first saw this...
I think there was an attempt to link to a pic in the title. That's gone now....
Anyway, looks like he's just trying to cover all the Mini bases seeing as this is his one and only post here.

Also, is that RHD?
I believe that "last 50" cars were a legal import. May have only been as a show car or something. I ran across one here in Charlotte about five years ago that had less than 10K miles on it (it still smelled new.) It was for sale for somewhere in the $25K range. Crazy nice car though.

I toured both the factory and JCW Garages (met Mike Cooper!) in 2004 and they still had leftover classic Minis at the plant, just sitting under plastic wrap next to the tour waiting area
.
It is true that the very last classic Minis off the assembly line were 2001 models built late in 2000.
I believe ALL of the Cooper Sport 500 cars were RHD, but I could be wrong. They were NOT built in sequential order as you might expect. Instead they were random cars picked here/there and given official numbered plaques which are located inside the glovebox.
There is an 'official' Cooper Sport 500 register here: http://500.247id.net/
Some of these cars were also 'final 50' versions with the JCW tuning conversion......only a handful however.
The 'final 50' JCW classic Minis are very difficult (but not impossible) to find, very expensive, and come with individual numbered certificates with John Cooper's real signature before he passed away. They can be legally imported to the US under the 'Show and Display' rules....
