My new 2004 MCS just arrived. I had the JCW kit installed, and have the stock supercharger and cylinder head and exhaust for the MCS. These parts have zero miles on them. Does anyone have a need for them - at a fair price?

Just wondering how you managed to hang onto these parts since I understand the JCW requires your core componets as part of the deal?

I have had too many bad experiences with my dealer's service dept. They have worked on my Audi and my Porsche with miserable results. So I decided to have the JCW kit installed elsewhere.

I simply bought the JCW kit from the dealer parts dept and paid a $1000 core charge. I can keep the parts, or return them and get a refund on the core charge.

How much are you willing to sell only the cylinder head?
Thanks,
Carl

So you bought the kit, then right out of the box voided the warranty on the kit by taking it some where else to have it put on? Where is the logic here?

No problem with the warranty on my car. I took the Works kit to another Mini dealer in a different town.

Naturally I need to get more than the core charge for the entire bag-o-parts. Piecemeal I'd have to get near that amount for the head or the s'charger alone.

unfortunatly thats going to be difficult, for i just bought the head, supercharger, and exhaust(even though i didn't want it) off ebay for $500....

Good luck, there are some out there that would really love to get a head & or supercharger, so its possible to get atleast the 1000.....

Interesting - thanks for the info. It's tough to figure out a fair price on these things.

Did the seller say why they only wanted $500? The core charge from the Mini dealer is $1000.

no thats just where the bidding ended, im not sure why he didnt set a "reserve" i guess his mistake my gain, there is a SC alone at 475 right now, so i don't know you might be able to get the 1000 out of the two it wouldn't be unreasonable, just maybe hard to find a buyer....

Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess I'll just send it back to the dealer parts dept for the $1000 core charge refund.

BTW, the JCW motor feels noticeably different - a bit more torquey, without the hesitation at launch. And I haven't pushed it yet. I am going by the book for break-in - <4500 RPM and no full-throttle until after the first 1200 miles. That'll teach me self-control.
