I'm wondering if NorcalMINI members are considering a caravan from the Bay Area to the Las Vegas meet on Feb 6-8. A few of us have signed up already. Phil, any thoughts on this?

Oh well, I figure I drive too slowly. I guess I'll take a couple of days to get to Vegas

I'd be interested.. Depending on my workload.. On a side note, is there a way to get NAM to notify me of new messages? I find that it doesn't, or it isn't in a clear place for me to check. On that, Does NorcalMinis have it's own internal webboard? I think that would be a good addition!

If you go to the Regional southwest forum you'll find the thread Vacation in Las Vegas (or something like that) and a link to more info on signups. There's quite a number of cars in the Bay area that are participating and I feel that some could meet up at East Bay MINI (Pleasanton) and link up with SouthBay people at Santa Nella (junction of I-5 and Hwy 152) where there is a truck stop and restaurant.

I have calculated mileages and figure Bakersfield would be a convenient place for a lunch stop (and also to pick up the Central Valley MINI drivers).

Here is my suggested assembly area and schedule:

Thurs. Feb 5: Assemble at East Bay MINI or Wal-Mart parking lot, Pleasanton at 8:00 AM
Thurs. Feb 5: Meet up with South Bay riders at Santa Nella, 9:15AM
Thurs. Feb 5: Lunch at Bakersfield 12:00 noon
Thurs. Feb 5: Arrive Las Vegas 5:00 PM

Give or take 1/2 to 1 hour for stoppages and laggards (like myself).

I'm in SoCal and probably going, too. Your schedule looks great. You might consider coordinating with dbwildo, who is organizing a caravan of SCMM members, and who is a moderator on the SoCal forum here, too.

BTW, I've always loved the word "laggard." Kudos.

IF we get our new MINI in time, we'd love to caravan with you guys on Thursday, as per the schedule.

A large contingent of MINI's will be heading out from SoCal on Friday, February 6th. We will be rolling through Barstow between 12-3. Depending on the size of the group. What time will the NorCal group hit Barstow? Perhaps we could wait up?

Beg with your boss, trade with a co-worker on days off. This is a rare opportunity to make this big Meet.

Doug: I guess we'll miss the SCMM riders since our group leaves on Thursday (we've got a longer distance to travel). See you guys in Vegas anyway.

The program has finally jelled. And what a program!!!!

Sorry on the late notice! Everyone, please bring along some GMSR/FRS style two-way radios. Most of our communications will be on channel 7 sub 21.
