Deal or no deal?

My wife and I configured the Cooper S she is going to order for a March production.

Black/Black
Manual
Premium Pkg
Cold weather pckg
Sport Susp
LSD
Aero Pkg
Xenon
DTC
Chrome caps
White signals
Bluetooth + Ipod
Arm rest

Total comes $29,700

We contacted our 3 local dealerships in TX and 2 told us that no deal or discount on ordered cars (Best one of them could do was $500 off MSRP). Last dealership told my wife they would do it for $200 off invoice. Seems a great deal but also too good to be true maybe.

Has anyone seen deals at other dealerships similar on ordered cars? Checking with the last one today to make sure they will not pull a funny one on us later but I am willing to order out of State.

Cheers!

Last time I spec'd out a vehicle I got the same spiel. The best I could do was get the $500 off of a vehicle off the lot. My last one was a used vehicle, this seems the only way to get a very recent car with low miles, and most of the warranty for a decent discount

When I ordered my low bucks justacooper last month the best deal I could find was $750 off the MSRP at the Baton Rouge dealer. I suspect I could have gotten a better discount on a $29K Cooper S.

Get it in writing!

I think the best you can do is to get the dealer to commit to a price in writing. If they won't do that, then it's certainly a red flag. If you are buying out of state, make sure to factor in the cost to ship it to you or drive it back. That reduces your savings.
The MINI you're ordering sounds nice! I would be interested to hear what you think of the ride quality of the sport suspension when you get it.

I would add tax and tag to the 1000 over and tell them take it ot leave it.I own dealerships and can tell you that fees are just profit, the factory pays for pdi, full tank of gas and the detail for delivery.

They have a deal going on for no charge premium package. I would be trying to work that deal out on an order mini.

in my opinion the best chance you have for getting a deal is to bargain on an already built car that's on their lot or labor charges for extras on a custom MINI.
I was able to talk my dealer into giving me about $2k off on labor. I spent $35k on my MINI, ...i told him that if he didn't cut labor on things like the JCW body kit that I'd buy the part from Morristown MINI (which offers substantial discounts off MSRP) and that i'd have a body shop do the paint and install. I think he realized I was serious and did my homework. He didn't want to lose out on a lot of extra's that I ordered, -so he cut/and seriously discounted labor on quite a few things. Example, he cut labor to zero on the CF hood scoop + JCW body kit. -but did charge me labor on the other parts.

In October, no deal for an ordered car here on my end - MSRP was it.

Suggestion - save $500 and don't waste your money on the "sports suspension", it's utter crap. Being an M Coupe owner myself, I'm quite sure you'll find it utterly disappointing. Instead, put that $500 towards an aftermarket suspension. Trust me, you'll want to do it anyways, whether or not you order the "sports" setup.

The guy is kind of a ***** to keep posting that price - his family owns a bunch of dealerships, and obviously has inside connections to get such a deal.

For all the other people who's family owns a bunch of dealerships, I suppose it's helpful info...

When I sold cars the rule was you never gave anything in writing about a discounted price. The philosophy was "why do you need paperwork if you're serious about buying a car here?" The fear was the customer would leave with the paper and shop the deal all over town. Almost any price can be beaten by a little bit.
