Ferodo 2500's: Where to order, and how much?
>>I'm in Oregon, and would like to try some Ferodo's, as they sound like the best all-around brake pads for all uses.
>>Anyone know where to get them, and about how much it costs for all 4 wheels?

From that site:
Ferodo DS2500 Brake Pads
The Ferodos are finally a pad for the MINI that is worthwhile. Race developed, they have a high coefficient of friction (.53) at a very low temperature (180F), and maintain that coefficient up to a high temperature (500F+) in a linear fashion. The Ferodos have 20% less wear than some of the other compounds out there, and 35% less compressibility compared to the other performance pads available - all the while remaining rotor friendly. The dreaded dust from the chalk-like MINI pads is significantly reduced as well.
Price: $139 front pair, $142 rear pair
Front pads

-----------------------------
Ferodo DS2500 are good for the track (works better with higher temperatures), they are not as ideal for street use. I do know MINI owners that have had trouble with squeaking from those pads. It's hard to find a good track and street pad because the uses and temperatures are so very different.

In late August I got a quote of $118 for a front set from http://www.RaceShopper.com . You could try them. The phone number is: 800-733-8380.
I got my Ferodo 2500's from Randy (who does price-matching, by the way).
Great pads! Awesome grip throughout temp range, and great fade resistance compared to stock, but not for the boulevard-cruising wimp that can't take a bit of brake squeal under light braking.

Thanks for the info. I'll be picking some of these up to put on when I get my JCW MCS.
Next question:
What measures CAN one take for squeaky brakes? I've never had to worry about this before, since my Cooper is silent with OEM pads, and previous to that it was only minivans, Hondas, and Toyotas.

A couple of days before you put on the pads, you put a nice thick layer of anti-squeal compound on the pad backing, then let it cure for a day or two before putting the pads on the car. This is all but fool-proof. I've had the Ferodos on for two weeks now, and they're almost silent. I had a hideous squeal in my front right OEM pad that drove me just about nuts. I really don't think that pad compounds necessarily have a whole lot to do with squeaks...
