GoMiniGo vs Cravenspeed GPS Mounts
Hey everybody, I'm trying to get opinions on the different GPS mounts for the Mini. The included Garmin Nuvi 200 mount just isn't cutting it. The price on the GoMiniGo mount is soooo cheap!! But I wonder how the visibility is. The Cravenspeed mount looks to be the best for visibility but is soooo expensive. Anybody have any experience with them?
While it's not exactly their nav product, I just installed the Cravenspeed iPhone mount today so let's see if I can help. The standard extension puts it pretty much entirely outside of the steering wheel's radius, which is great - it's easy to poke at the touchscreen because I'm not trying to stick my big ol' paw through the steering wheel to make selections, and I don't have to slouch down to see anything inside the wheel's radius. But I'm a taller guy; I can normally only just see the bottom of the number 4 on my tach.
I guess I'd say I'm kind of ambivalent about putting anything you intend to interact with behind the plane of the steering wheel. That said, the price difference is substantial. The Flexpod mount is surprisingly light, but it feels solid once it's mounted to your tach. I haven't noticed any sloppiness in the mount once I tightened it all down. And, while it's probably a moot point in the grand scheme of things, the Cravenspeed guy(s) are on the ball. I ordered my hardware on Wednesday, and it was at my door on Friday.

I went with the Cravenspeed b/c I wanted my GPS up close to my line of sight. Definitely not looking through the steering wheel. The placement also put it where it is not in front of any vents to block heat or A/C. Very similar to the Kuda mount placement, but I felt the Cravenspeed would have less lasting impact.
While expensive, the Cravenspeed is very well made and was a breeze to install. Thus far, I have not thought "man, I paid too much for that."

I also have the CravenSpeed setup for iPhone and ScanGaugeII. Works well and puts things in a good location.
Haven't seen the GoMiniGo one in person. Both companies are good. I wouldn't want stuff behind the wheel.

i went with the gominigo and like it alot, it looks more like the oem version and kinda stealthy, the adda fuse method worked great for wiring and was easy to rout wire to fuse panel, i have a widescreen nuvi so it cuts off a little of the screen, but it has not affected usage for me, took five min to install bracket and shipping was fast, i dont use it everyday and dont take it out, i would recommend the gomingo
I had and sold the gominigo mount. The wheel cut off over half my widescreen garmin, so I can't recommend it. It may be also due to seating position (I'm tall and drive with the seat all the way back). The gps also vibrated A LOT while mounted, the mount was a little too flimsy I guess. A more minor issue is tight fitment if you have the gps mounted on the right of the wheel.
I'd get the cravenspeed mount if I were to get another one.

What about the Kuda upper mount? To me this looks like the sturdiest and best integrated mount there is. It seems it can be a PITA to install, but those who have them seem to love them.

I like the gominigo mount for our 265W, yes, the upper left corner of the screen is obscured, but this does not bother me. The price is very reasonable and the build is solid, I don't find it vibrates very much.
Wow, the Kuda and the Cravenspeed mounts look really nice, but all that cash just for a mount is crazy!! I like the GoMiniGo one, but don't like how it's obstructed by the steering wheel. Decisions decisions.
Kuda one looks cool. Want the Craven one though but I need 200 bucks to do it :(... ive got 2 gauges already and want to locate both of em to one side w the FlexPods and the Garmin on the other....
Should have read this thread before jumping on the gominigo mount. The gomini go has some nice things going for it...the bracket is a nice clean install since it uses the torx screws that hold the tach to the steering column, the mounting ball works perfectly with the Motorola Droid car dock, and the price was right. However, the location behind the steering wheel, plus the droids left-hand headphone jack meant that I had to mount this on the left side of the wheel, away from my driving field of view and partially cut off behind the wheel.
However, I found a quick solution. I added a four-inch piece of flat-bar to raise the end of the original bracket. That let me raise the screen over the wheel, and it let me move it to the center, below, but closer to my field of vision.
I'm please so far with this quick prototype. I'm concerned that the single bolt is going to loosen, but I've used a nylock nut, so that might help. It also looks like a bit of a "twanger", but it didn't vibrate too badly on a quick spin around the neighborhood. Should have used satin-finish paint rather than glossy, but oh well.
