Mini extended warrenty finally out!!!!!

Im curious if anyone has purchased this yet and for how much? Mini Fairfield wants 2480 for 5 year 100000 a bit more expensive than GE warranty. They said its the same as the 4 year 50000 bumper to bumper factory warranty in terms of coverage. Im gonna call around and get some quotes on prices.

Check out the top sticky. That talks about the Maintenance and the Warranty program. So far the price you were quoted seems abotu right. When i asked they had a few levels for different time periods and milage. But the 5yr/100k was about $2500. (Prestige Mini - Mahwah NJ)

So you get an extra year for $2500 (4 vs 5). I guess if you're driving over about 20k miles/ year that might cause you to stop and think about it. But $200/month for what amounts to a drivetrain warranty with brakes seems pretty steep to me. I guess that's why they sell it. With any insurance policy somebody wins and somebody loses. My guess is they win this one about every time.

I just bought a 5\100,000 for my daughter’s 2007 MINI.
[ She is paying me back. ]
Discounted Cost: $1,920.
She is at approx 43,000 at 2+ years ownership.
This extends the coverage to 5 years,
and covers to the mileage we expect at that point.
Otherwise, she would be without warranty coverage
for 50,000 miles – thus we essentially doubled
the coverage.
In this scenario, this coverage extension
costs approx. $0.04 per mile.
YMMV.
Cheers,
Ray

What's not covered?

According to MINI, the extended warranty is not truly bumper-to-bumper. Some things not included are:

Paint
Glass
Headlamps
Exterior bulbs
Mirrors
Trim
Upholstery
Convertible top
Water leaks
Wheels
Radio
Navigation system
Telephone system
Power window regulator or motor

Yeah...i will pass on that. I might still do the maintenance program though. I will hit the 100k miles pretty quickly at this rate.
