I went to the Orange County Auto Show (SoCal) over the weekend. Loads and loads of really nice cars (and some ugly beasts). Mini was nowhere to be seen. All of the other big name brands had their poorer relatives with them, but BMW left us at home. Anybody know why they'd do that?

Grrrrrrrrr! That is odd and a bit off-putting, to put it mildly! You'd have thought they'd have had at least a MINI Cabrio prototype!! Grrrrrrrr!!

Can't explain the absence of MINI at the show...As for the Cabrio my understanding is that there is only one prototype in the US and it was recently at the sales meeting held in Atlanta this past week. Additionally I would expect the carbio prototype to only be shown at the really large shows like the Detroit, LA, and New York shows that start later this winter.

I too went to the auto show and was surprised at the MINI's no show. I figured that maybe since they are still flying off the lot, that they didn't feel the need to get more interest generated in the car. Still kind of bummed out, even though there is nothing really new to see on the current cars.

Our Auto Show starts tomorrow (or Wednesday?) and they have advertised that MINI will be one of the participants ... I'll be sure to check for them first! ( ... or maybe right aftre the Aston's and Lotii ...)

With the MINI's nonconventional marketing, perhaps car shows don't fit the plan. Hard to accept though... semms like it would be better to attend the show and just find a new twist in their display. (Like some of the mall displays they did, etc.)

God speed.

The CAI is probably just too small of a show. I'm sure they'll be at L.A. again this year.

You could be right, but as I say all of the other companies brought their "cheap dates".
