Purchased used Mini, what options do I have?

OK, so I just pulled the trigger on a 2007 MCS. First full day with the car and I truly love it.

But I purchased it from a non-Mini dealer and they lost the original window sticker. Is there any way I can contact Mini USA and get a list of the options my car has? I think I've figured almost everything out, but i just want to confirm a few items (heated washer jets, comfort access, etc...).

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide!

The dealer should be able to print you out a sheet with your packages/options. If you post pics we could probably identify most of your options for you too.

You may also be able to call 1-866-ASK-MINI and ask them based on your VIN.

Setup an account here with your VIN and then click "track your MINI" where it will list the original options ordered.

OK, I'm logged into the Mini Owner's lounge with my VIN number, but I can't find the "Track my Mini" function anywhere. Any help?

Thanks!

Got it. That worked great.

So now my question is:

It says my car has all four packages (Cold, Sport, Premium, Convenience). Is there a place on this forum that lists what was included in these packages for early 2007 models?

It appears as if I don't have the power heated folding mirrors (tried turning the mirror **** this morning per the manual, and nothing happened), but do I have heated mirrors?

Also, did Comfort Access not come in the Convenience Package until 2008? I don't appear to have that either (car doesn't unlock without hitting unlock button on fob).

Finally, it says my car has the Hi-Fi system, but the current Hi-fi system has 10 speakers. Mine only appears to have 8 (tweeters in A-pillar, 2 mid's in each door, 2 in the back). It that correct for the model year I have?

Thanks a ton for all your help so far. Nice to know I've apparently got a pretty loaded little MCS!!

My 2008 happened to come with a 2007 brochure. (and pkgs were different for each year).

Cold includes heated seats, washer jets and mirrors, no mention of folding.

Sport (for MCS) includes DSC, Xenon's w/power wash and 17" wheels.

Premium includes Auto AC, MFS w/cruise and sunroof.

Convenience includes armrest, auto dimming mirror, bluetooth mobile phone preperation, keyless go comfort access, rain sensitive wipers and universal garage door opener.

You should have a small black botton on outside door handle that will un-lock at a touch, if key/fob is in your pocket. These key/fobs have an internal battery that must be periodically replaced (not rechargeable).

Also, your 'Start' button should be active, if key/fob is inside the car (no need to insert it into slot).

Everything seems to add up for the Premium, Sport and Cold packages, but I'm not sure that I have the rain-sensitive wipers or the Comfort Access.

I do have the black button on my door handles, but they don't do anything when I press them (key fob seems to work fine other than that). And I need to insert the fob to start the car (nothing is active until I do that).

Again, maybe the Convenience package had a few less features for early 2007 models. My MCS has a build date of March 2007.

OK, that's one down! Thanks!

BTW, the thing sounds great. No complaints on the audio system so far. Really balanced for a stock system, IMHO.

Without Keyless Go Comfort Access, you would not have the black button on your door handle.

I would suggest that you replace the batteries in your key/fobs.

They should sell them at your local Walgreens or CVS Pharmacy.

The major change was after August 2007, they came with the Federal Mandate Tire Pressure Monitor system (yours works on wheel-speed difference and does not have the transmitters in the valve stems, this is a plus, especially if you want snow tires on their own rims).

The 2008 model introduced the 'one-touch up' for the window lifts and the 2009 changed from 140 mph to 150 mph on Speedometers.

That is about all the changes (other than 'included' options) from 2007 to 2010 MINI's.

The non-HiFi has no tweeters in the windshield posts and the 2010's have gone back to the Harmon-Kardon Stereo in place of HiFi (at an extra $250 over HiFi).

Your mirrors are probably heated, but not folding. 2007 Cold didn't include folding mirrors. They were mainly for Europe where parking slots often give you only inches between cars. Couldn't believe it when I parked in one in England. I was in a Toyota MR2 and could barely get out of the car.

Also, did Comfort Access not come in the Convenience Package until 2008? I don't appear to have that either (car doesn't unlock without hitting unlock button on fob).
You have to press the black button on the door. There is a setting in the car that determines whether pressing it opens both doors, or just the driver's door. IIRC, if you press and hold it, the windows should go down. To lock the car, press the black button. Hold it down and the windows will roll up.

Finally, it says my car has the Hi-Fi system, but the current Hi-fi system has 10 speakers. Mine only appears to have 8 (tweeters in A-pillar, 2 mid's in each door, 2 in the back). It that correct for the model year I have?
If you take the rear side panels off (big job) you would see that there are tweeters with the 6x9 rear speakers.

You will find an AUX input in the cubby in front of the shift lever, but you wont find a USB port. The Bluetooth option for 2007 didn't include USB. That was added in 2008.

Thanks a ton for all your help so far. Nice to know I've apparently got a pretty loaded little MCS!!
Yup.

Yup.
Great info to have, Robin. Thanks again...

OK, so I just went out for lunch and tested the Comfort Access. The black door buttons definitely don't do anything, whether I hold them down for a few seconds or not. Could this be something with set-up that I have to change? I also can't start the car at all without putting the key fob in the slot. Per the previous poster's comment, could it just be the battery in the fob going dead?

The 2nd link didn't worked for you? I used the first link to register and once logged in I clicked the 2nd link and it showed me all the options of my car. However, I did noticed I couldn't see any service record done at the dealer where the car was originally order from by previous owner so I guess I'm going to have to call that dealer to get some answers.

That showed options for me; not so many as the dealer claimed, though.

"Automobile" lists option package contents e.g. for 2008:
http://www.automobilemag.com/am/2008...s_options.html

.. change the number in that URL for your year.

Yeah, it does not show anything in the factory installed options box...it is empty still. I did not get the window sticker.

My sales person was able to print the exact build options for me on his laser printer.

That Automobile list is not very good. It is close, but missing a lot of options and many of package contents are wrong.

A lot of the traditional vehicle "options" are standard features (like power locks and windows) on the Cooper.

Most of the options you can visually confirm when looking inside the car...HIFI has the tweeters in the a-pillar, auto AC has the digital temp, bluetooth/usb has the usb port in the center cubby, cruise, convenience has the little button on the outside door handle (and the fob has a battery door), sunroofs are obvious, HID has the projector lens showing. Sport suspension is tougher, if you look at the rear struts you should be able to find a big SPORT label on it. Sport seats have the lumbar ****. Leather identification maybe tougher depending on color and style, punch carbon is the easy one to tell.

Your key FOB for your MINI may not be the original FOB programmed for comfort access. I bought a used BMW with comfort access and it came with 2 key FOBs. Comfort Access worked with one key FOB, the other did not. Turns out, the key FOB that did not work was not the original and had to be programmed at the dealership. The key FOB that did not work with Comfort Access still turned on the car (and locked, unlocked, etc.) I hope this helps.

Since you have a black button on your door handle - congratulations! you have comfort access.
