buying rims for snow tires

I am trying to find steel rims for my 2008 Mini Cooper S with 17 inch size. Does anybody know where I can get those ugly steel rims so I can put snow tires on them for the winter? Thanks in advance. I also need to get tires also. 205/45/17 is the size.

Tirerack has good wheel packages for your car, you can run 16 and also 15s as long as the brakes clear, You just need to get the right size, Alex at Tirerack should be able to help you. I am running 205 55 16 on my 04 for the Winter and have No Issues.
Good Luck,
If you have any more question PM me, I live close to you from what I see here

No need to run 17's (expensive). Go down to 195-55R16 and you'll be fine

Steel for Mini

I do have 15" steel to fit. The steels are ONLY compatible with 12mm hardware. These will notwork on the 14mm cars. I do have a sticky @ the top of the forum for winter ideas that fit all Mini's

Thanks

Thank you for all the responses. I called up Tire Rack and I got a price around $1100 for the whole set up on 16" rims. Boy winter can be expensive I guess.

It all depends on how you look at it,, if the Snow tires save you just one accident you have saved the money and all the BS agravation of dealing with the insurance companies, a loaner car and beaing with out your ride

decided all season vs snows because ill use them after the snow is melted until allllll that damn salt is GONE

Shop around.... That seems very pricey to me. You should be able to get a good set of 16" snows/steel rims for ~$600-700, I'd think.

^^^ especially steelies

but the cheapest alloy ones are still 100/ea so your already out 400+ 400 at least on tires... then install.

I just wouldnt buy new alloy wheels. steelies can be had dirt cheap, and i think many other manfacturers 4x100s fit?
