Breakfast meet in NJ
Maybe we should try for Sunday the 13th, if the weather is good maybe down by Pt Pleasant, most of the crowds should be gone by then? Alittle breakfast and some Photo ops by the Ocean?

There are plenty of breaksfast places in the area that are close to the shore and some that are out on the shore. My wife and I can take a run out that way on the major roads and mark up a map and post it here and let everyone comment on which would be the most acceptable.
As it turns out, my wife and I were looking for something to do on Monday, so this will give us a nice ride through the area and out to the shore.

I dont know all the roads well down there, however there is a good spot about a half mile from Jenkensins boardwalk on Pt Pleasant for a good photo shot. There is a restaurant named Rockafellas, and across from there is a parking lot right next to the inlet that lets the boats out into the ocean, would make for a very good picture early in the morning with the right light.
I wasn't planning on going down next weekend but rather the weekend after that I'll be down there for three days.
I do know of a truly kick *** place but its more of a lunch/dinner place. Its called "The Crabs Claw" and they have seriously good Crab Cakes. Its located in Lavalette, a town sort of inbetween Point Pleasant and Seaside Hts. The parking really stinks at the Crabs Claw but since your talking about going in the off season it may be just fine.

I just put several of the places that we drove by on the map with little balloons as close to the locations as I could get them. Here's an outline of the places that are on the map and a few comments where applicable:
A/ Sandy's Cozy Corner - 414 Rt 70, Lakehurst, NJ 08733 (there could be a wait here on Sunday as they get rather crowded when church lets out.)
B/ IHOP - 941 Rt 37W, Toms River, NJ 08755.
C/ Blue Fountain Diner - 734 Rt 37W, Toms River, NJ 08755.
D/ Town & Country Diner - 660 Rt 37W Toms River, NJ 08755.
E/ Crystal Diner - 2 Rt 37E, Toms River, NJ 08753.
F/ Perkins Restaurant -149 Rt 37E, Toms River, NJ.
G/ IHOP - 178 Rt 37E, Toms River, NJ, 08753.
H/ Pier House - Intersection Central Ave & 22nd Ave, South Seaside Park, NJ. (Open on the weekends off season)
I/ Cranberry Inn - 201 Hiering Ave at Rt 35, Seaside Heights, NJ 08751.
J/ Sunny Hunny Pancake House - 1907 Rt 35, Seaside Heights, NJ.
K/ Salty's - 1901 Rt 35N, Lavallette, NJ 08735 (my wife and I ate breakfast here today. This is the second time we've been here and the food is good. They're open all year)
L/ Meg's Grill - 1403 Grand Ave (Rt 35) Just before Brooklyn Ave. Lavallette, NJ.
M/ Crab's Claw - 601 Grand Central Ave (Rt 35), Lavallette, NJ 08735.
We didn't stop in to check with each of the places out on the Island to see if they are open on the weekends, but they all have phone numbers on the web, so we can contact them if it looks like the general preference is to have breakfast out on the island instead of inland. As you can see from the location of the balloons, our drive followed Route 37 out to the island and therefore the places listed are all along that route.
On our drive today we went all along the shore heading north and drove up Mt. Mitchel in Atlantic Highlands. It was a nice day for a ride and the view of the New York skyline was fairly clear. Great place for a camera!
There were a few additional places that we saw, but its 11:15PM and I'm starting to drift. Wanted to get this put on the site for you to review and then we can discuss it later in detail....
I like the ones along the shore as well. Crabs Claw is awesome and they have a Sunday Brunch. Sunny Hunny Pancake House is always busy in the summer, never been there, but I have heard good things. There are a few places closer to point pleasant/manasquan that I am going to check out.
If we are looking for a little drive afterwards, we could either head north all the way up to Sandy Hook or shoot south to Island Beach State Park where there are some spots to get group photos.
I actually organized a run (Sun of the Beach Run) two summers ago where we started at the the Cheesquake Rest Stop on the parkway and took a slow drive down the shore to Seaside, had lunch and hit various Ice Cream Stops on the return trip to Keyport. Not an exciting run, but we did get lots ooooooos and ahhhhhhhs as we drove threw different towns. Think I might try to organize this run again in the spring.

Just as an aside...On my way in to work this morning I listened to the NOAA local weather forcast that covers 7 days into the future and they just changed the weekend forcast...there is now NO RAIN forcast for Sunday...Yea!!
Salty's sounds good to me, anyone else have an idea, where does everyone want to meet at so that we can motor down/over? Jackson Outlets seems like a good place, again any other ideas? What time is good for everyone?

The Jackson Outlets is fine for me as I'm only a few miles down the road from there, but that might be a fairly large jog for someone who is coming down from the north or up from the south east. Perhaps we should consider something out near one of the Parkway exits which would put them somewhat closer to the shore area. There's bound to be a Kohls or something like that near the parkway that we could use as a meeting place before heading out to the Island...just a thought, please comment.

My wife and I stopped in yesterday for a late breakfast and Saltys was packed, but we were still served rapidly and only had to park a few slots down on a side street from the front door. I think that yesterday was probably the worst day that we could have gone for the crowding. My feeling is that we should have little trouble next Sunday parking right along route 35 in front of any of the bigger restaurants. On our previous trip to Saltys we parked right at the front door during the middle of summer. The Pier House which is at the extreme southern end of the island you could have parked anywhere.
Your right, The Crabs Claw is great!
Also a great little breakfast joint is Meg's Grill in Lavalette, but it's always super crowded reslulting in long waits even off season. Also in Brick before the Mantoloking Bridge is Bennie's Cafe Diner 664 Mantoloking Rd, Brick, NJ 08723. My friend who lives in Brick recomends it as home cooked meals.
Maybe we'll see you down there if you venture to Seaside to Clown Fest.
