roll over?

I forget what happen or when it happened but I herd of a professional or semi pro driver roll a mini at Willow Springs (I think on the big track) and passed away. Is there any reason that i should take into consideration to buy a roll bar (if possible) not a roll cage for my mcs 2007? Do minis roll over easy? Just a thought i had.... Sorry if this is a stupid ? or in the wrong section to ask. -_-

Btw i want to start preparing my car for the track xD

If you keep it on the track the MINI won't roll. Once it hits dirt all bets are off, just like any other car.

Invest in harnesses and training. Mostly training.

It won't roll over much easier than your lotus.

Something very unusual will have to happen for the rubber to point at the sky.

From what I understand of that Willow Springs accident, the driver some how got ejected from the seat (came out of the quick-fit 4-point harness). It was not a roll bar or roll cage issue it was a seat belt issue. Many organizations do not allow 4-point harnesses, you must have the stock 3-point or 5/6-point harness.

I was driving at Laguna Seca Raceway when a Mini rolled (got off track into the dirt side-ways). The car and driver survived very well. The roof crushed-in only slightly and all the windows blew-out. All air bags went off and the driver walked away.

I would not worry too much about the Mini rolling over.

Many rollovers can happen during off track incidents. It can happen when you slide off the track and catch a rut on the wheels that are off, with momentum flipping the car. It can happen (or has happened) at any track.

The best protection is with Hans, racing seat with 5 or 6 point harness, a roll cage with a harness bar and some nomex.

At Laguna Seca the Mini went off at Turn 9, slide back across the track and went back off the track again between Turn 9 and 10. The Mini caught on edge in the dirt and flipped.

Sucks for that guy. Im looking forward to participate in a track day at Laguna xD

My dads been there with the Lotus and says its awesome. Iv only been to Willow Springs small track and the big track, also buttonwillow. I personally like the small track tho because its more turning and critical. I started on that track when i was about 12 or 13 driving my dads BMW 330ci.

HaHa that was awhile ago but yes. My dad let me drive his car. I grew up driving go karts and loved the track. Driving a car then wasnt so much of a big deal =]

I saw the aftermath of one putting a wheel off at 1 (fastest point on the course) and over correcting and ending upside down on the hairpin at Laguna. That convinced me that a harness without a roll cage would be a bad idea.
