Something in the top is messed up, it seems like a clip might be broken, but I am not 100% sure. Here are some pictures of the part I'm talking about.













I'm honestly guessing it's going to be a trip to the dealer for me.

Guess I got to schedule a service appointment. 2 trips to service in the 1st week of owning it...oiy!

 

Service appointment scheduled for Friday at 9:30am. This better be covered under warranty.

Good Luck with Mini of Towson!!! I had a very BAD experience with them. They don't seem to like to fix things under warranty. Be careful on how you state what happened.

 

They've fixed things on my old Cooper for free, even though it was well out of warranty. I've had nothing but great experiences with their Service department. Even had a conversation with Rose (the service manager) about some of the mods I had done to my car and how she liked them.

 

First the IY Powder Coating bolts, and now this. I have a 7:30am appt to have the JCW Brake installed this Friday...

Hope your dealer covers it under warranty.

At the dealer now, they currently have my MINI in the back. No mention that it might not be covered under warranty when I signed the preliminary paperwork. All is looking well.


Edit: Just got home and washed my MINI (took 1.5 hours for the first bath, and that included no polishing and just spray wax.) The SA said that it will be covered under warranty, they had to order the part and they will call me when its ready. One more trip out to the dealer, no big deal, more motoring for me!

 

Hey Zanary - just curious how much difference the JCW brakes made compared to the standard brakes that come on a MCS.

 

On the twisties, massive difference. You can tell right away. On my daily 1.25 hour drive to work and back, a little but it's difficult to tell, since my commute is 70% freeway.

I have to say that my reason for purchase was 50% for the performance advantage of those brakes, and 50% for the feeling of completing my JCW conversion of my S Convertible.

Plus, on Interchange Yellow, Red really stands out, and if course the JCW Logo looks awesome!!!

I'd recommend it, however before you do the brakes, I would highly recommend the JCW Engine Tuning Kit first. That one has more bang for the buck, and if you play the cards right (ie, print out Morristown's price), you can get both for the same price, around $1600 approximately for just the parts. And atleast with my dealer, I was able to have them do the install based on Mini's recommendation, plus give me an exra 20% off the labor.

All in all I'm very happen with both upgrades.
