Aftermarket Front Speakers on a 2002

I've sorted through all the related posts and haven't found my answer...

I want to upgrade my speakers, but I see that they just don't simply screw on where the old ones were.

Does anyone have experience or advice on this?

Crutchfield offers some sort of adapter on their site...

I'm afraid of ordering it without any input from the people here.

Buy some MDF and make adapters yourself. That's what I and others had to do.

I guess what I was asking is for some advice on how.

Where can I buy MDF?

What/how did you make yours?

I got the MDF at home depot and used good old ingenuity to make the spacers.

Here is my thread about it. The spacers start on post 46
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...or-subs-2.html

I had to go back and trim the spacers some more to get the interior panel to fit better. The kappas were huge speakers though, with a driver almost as big as the woofer.

yes you can make mdf spacers if you're handy or have someone who is good with woodworking (i suggest either a bandsaw or a jig saw to cut the spacers).

i know that crutchfield have spacers they say will work, but when i looked at them i wasn't sure how they would work (i made my spacers like 7 years ago but recently looked at crutchfield out of curiousity).

if you're not handy, give crutchfield a call and see what they think. 6.5 inch speakers fit fine with a spacer.
