i'd like to replace all of them w/ non rf's, but i wanted to get one more season out of these oem tires...

It's toast. The wheel is suspect at this point as well. I'd check marketplace for a single, used replacement, or scratch ideas about putting of a new set for another season.

 

Ouch... this incident marred your side skirt too didn't it?

Take the wheel and tire to a shop. They can tell you about the tire from looking at it.

Then have the shop put the wheel on the spin balancer and check for round/true.

When in any doubt fall on the side of safety and follow expert advise ... and that's NOT me.

 

that tire is totally toast .... do NOT drive on it ..... not 10 miles ... not 5 miles ... the tire is UNSAFE ... and you need to get the wheel rim fixed too.

That IS repairable but you need professional attention. If you do nothing, the rim is UNSAFE.

 

I have the mini wheel/tire protection thing.... think this would be covered?

As everyone stated, it's toast. Could potentially repair a puncture in the tread, but once the side wall is violated, it's garbage.

 

My GF did the same thing right after I mounted my R109's. Took a chunk out of the wheel and opened up a flap of rubber(almost identical to yours) on the side. Drove 30k for the life of the tire. Hell I have a cracked rim that's been fine for months and only looses about 3-4 psi every few days although it's a two-piece so that helps. If it's a RF don't sweat it. Money doesn't grow on trees.

well if i can get this replaced (At least the tire) im pretty sure the rim is fine, i've seen a cracked rim b4 and this doesnt look bent or anything, just a little knick.. but the tire, i agree it seems pretty bad.
but what im trying to figure out is if the 'tire/wheel road hazard' package i have from MINI will cover this... i guess i can just say i hit a pothole and they should at least replace the tire, right?

ugh, iwant to go to limerock ct tmrw for the koni/gt race, butttttttt its 2.5 hrs away, and i know i shouldnt be driving on the wheel like this, oxyblue vs NAM... lol i want to believe oxyblue. haha.
