Damn, exactly, now just enclose the intake to isolate it from the engine compartment...

sweet! Very nice work!

That's an intake alright. Cold, however, it is not.

Unfortunately that vent hole sits behind the hood and isn't open to the outside.Nice setup though.I ran mine out behind the engine where there's plenty of consistent cooler air of course the MC has more room without all the boost tubes.

I like the work you have done there. Looks good. However it would probably have been better to put your standard airbox back on connected to the cold air feed and that way you have a CAI that is positioned well out of the way of the turbo and thus heat soak wont be an issue. You could put a box around your current setup to make it a CAI however heat soak will still be an issue because of the close proximity of the filter to the turbo.

I was going to say. From my previous experience I had to put the MAF as far as possible from the turbo inlet as possible. It causes some weird turbulance issues when you let off the throttle etc and the MAF reads incorrectly.

I know mine caused a lot of stalling issues.

Interesting setup Oxy! How are you piping that air to the turbo?

Its an awesome idea. But IMO you have run the tubing into that hole and gotten a HKS mushroom looking filter and put it in there. I would also look at wrapping the tubro so that it doesn't bleed heat all over the place and you would be good. But awesome job on the intake looks really good. Don't really see many MINIs moddified this way. +1 for the work.

What turbo I was just showing another way to get cooler air. It requires removing the intake manifold and throttle body though.

Here is a real Cold Air Intake, and I have the factory air duct going into the bottom of it. It is a copy of the Defenders of Speed intake, using the K&N Apollo just like they did..

now thats a cold air intake-img_0074.jpg

You could move the battery and run it through the firewall. There would be plenty of room for a cone filter to the outside air similar to chakraj's setup just not directly under the open grill.

Well... that answers my questions then! hahaha

I like that your modification doesn't have any sharp bends in the piping mtuning.

Too bad you have to re-think it. You gonna try something else, or go back to stock location?
