We bought our '03 MCS "used" with twenty three miles on it.
What did the dealer give you as new car schwag? Coffee mugs? Pens"
Gold Bars? Our used car guy said he'd forward on our goodies, but I'm
curious what we're supposed to get.
Second goofy question. We'd like to be able to celebrate our cars
birthday, where can I find out it's birthdate using the VIN#?
Third, anyone else having a rattle from the packageshelf thing above the
trunk & is there a fix?

I bought a demo model...and I got my schwag about 2 months later directly from Mini. mug, log book/journal, road bingo, message signs...like "hey there Sexy"...stuff like that...and a pen with a floating mini in it.

The rattle is prolly from your rear hatch, not the deck. you can put electrical tape around the hatch mechanism...the silver thing on the opening part of the hatch...the latch part. Also, there are 2 rubber grommets on either side of the rear hatch..one on each side. They screw out, bring them out a little to give you a tad more pressure on the hatch. Those 2 things combined solved my rattle problems completely

Build date is found on the door somewhere, some label. I saw it once, mine is april 03...you should be able to find it.
