AC Schnitzer exhaust tip

Has anyone here put this exhaust tip on their MCS?
I'm wondering if this picture is showing the tip installed without cutting out some pipe. Seems to be sticking out a lot. If the tips will be more tucked in after cutting the pipe, I would definitely try this tip...

So do you have this on yours? Does it require cutting? Any pictures of it?

See them all the time on ebay, about 90 bucks I think I have had several different types on mine, never had to cut any off the OEM pipes though. Now I have a BMP set welded on after some modification.

They bolt right up with tension screws I think. Just email the ebay seller, they should be able to tell you. Here is pic of the hardware.

UPDATE: Contacted Ebay seller.....they stated in E-mail these are NOT authentic ACS, but aftermarket.............

Sorry but...

Hey Luvlee,
Unfortunately these are not just tips. You have to purchase the entire exhaust as ACS does not sell only the tips at retail. They are made specifically for their exhaust that is built by Remus. If by some chance you were able to find a set from a private seller/owner, you could get the tips to fit but you'd have to do some modification to get them to work. I'd imagine that you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone selling just the tips. Most people wouldn't want to part out their exhaust. Also, ACS just isn't popular with the Mini crowd in the U.S. do due the high prices when you could get something comparable for much much cheaper.

The photos in the post above are fake copies with an ACS logo stamped on them. Any tips sold on ebay from a retailer are not genuine ACS parts.

Here's the difference:

Mine (genuine)

Fake ebay stuff

Notice how on the fakes you can see the inside of the oem tips where the fakes where slipped over? Also the fake tips are perfectly round whereas the genuine ones have a very slight pinch to them. It also looks like the fakes also are slightly smaller.

Hope that all makes sense!
Anthony

From the looks of that picture it look that while the tips work with the OEM exhaust, larger diameter pipes are what they are truly made for. Probably a 2.5" pipe and, if I remember correctly, the stock one is 2.25" diameter.

If you had an aftermarket exhaust that you didn't like the tips on, or the JCW, I think those would be a good looking tip. I like how they are trick yet still have a very OEM look to them by being a fully rolled lip and are not obnoxiously big. I bought the OEM sport tips and while I do like them I almost feel they are a tad too large looking.

We'll belikeanthony that sums it up pretty well. The pics you provided of the original against the other ones clearly show the big difference in quality and fitment beyond just the size of the pipes.

I understand what you say about the popularity of the AC Schitzer stuff here in the US. A good while ago I had a 3 series and I liked some of the Schitzer stuff there was but found it was easier and a little cheaper to go Dinan for pretty much the same gain.

Yeah I got my ACS stuff for aesthetics. For performance, there's much more cost effective ways to go!

I also have authentic ACS parts on my BMW. The quality is pretty high and you get what you pay for. As far as performance goes....ACS or Dinan are not the way to go. ESPECIALLY for BMWs. .....just too much money for little gain.

I couldn't agree more. Hahahaha...AND the ACS stuff is made in Germany!

"It's made in Germany! You know Germans make good stuff right?"

LOL...no offense towards ACS (I think they make awesome parts) and Dinan...well....the ONLY thing that isnt doody is the old discontinued CF CAI for the BMW but the performance side is lacking MAJOR. Now, Hamann and Hartge is a different story. They do some killer mods like a 5L V-10 in the 3. Cant complain about that but still mad expensive.
