You WILL get a cel. Even with a fouler on it. The fouler just causes the CEL to come on a little later.

This week ill have a DP with a resonator built in ready for you guys. Ill add a fouler on it too so the cel wont come as often.

Take your fouler and stuff some steel wool in it, it will make it work even better.

what happens if you plug up a fouler? sealing it off from the exhaust gas but not temp?

or a 90 degree elbow fouler?

you cant. The second 02 sensor has to read sometype of exhaust. You cant just remove it and have it read clean outside air etc. This will cause the o2 to give you a constant output were as the output has to be varied. I use to make electronic simulators back in the day that will just give you a constant swing of voltage.

On the newer cars it does not work to good because the emissions are much more strict.

YOu need to see correct temps and correct samples so you dont trigger a cel. You need to hit x amount of temp in x time , this is why you cant always put a 90 and have the sensor be far away.

coopman: so are you or are you not using a fouler?

first i was using a fouler, and check engine light came on in about week and a half . then when i looked at the code i noticed it said that its readings are too low (P1036). so i decided to redrill the small hole in a size where more exhaust gases could come in ( 1/2") , now i get the check engine light in like 2 days. i hate new cars, big pain in the butt to tune ( or to lie to , LOL)

I plugged my O2 sensors back in as normal, no spacers, foulers or anything.

Whats this? "Cooper S P-Torque Stage 1 ECU Remap" in your sig? The mopar stage 1 ecu on the sr-4 neon and caliber inhibit the CEL from triggering on. Also on VW the ecu flash do the same. o2 cel that is

That is very plausible and sounds like it could be the factor in not triggering cels however my mate has the same remap and he was running your full 3" turbo back exhaust (no resonators or silencers) and he got a cel every so often, im not sure if it was o2 related or not though - futureal33 might beable to shine some light on this.

Damn ecu

Damn ecu

he had a fouler in his setup. Im pretty sure it was o2 related. Whats odd is that what works for one car does not always work for another. On my caliber market, my car has gone a year with no cel. My buddy 2 days, others 2 months. Same identical setup.
