I'm not terribly much help on this, because I sprang for the OEM Bluetooth solution.

I would suggest searching this forum (just this one - the 1st Gen Nav & Audio) for the keyword "bluetooth". You should find some very useful threads.

The search mechanism here on NAM is really bad, but it does OK for one-word searches.

^if you dont mind me asking how much it cost you to run the OEM bluetooth?

if no other solution works better, then the OEM would possibly be the way to go

thanx!

Due to its price (the parts alone are ~$1000 for the full kit (ties into armrest dock)) the OEM option is really only worth even considering if you have the factory Nav, IMO.

There is a cheaper variant of the OEM Bluetooth that doesn't tie into the Nav - it's about $400 for the parts. There are also some vendors (like European Auto Source & Bimmernav) who sell the Nav-integrated version, without the armrest pieces, for about $850.

Obviously installation in all cases is separate.

Do you have the factory Nav? If not, my guess is that you'll probably be happer with one of the many aftermarket kits.

I installed the Parrot CK3000 kit with the wiring from MikeytheMini (www.newministuff.com). I think the total was around $300.

Easy install, works with the MFSW buttons. I had a SonyEricsson phone at first and the voice dialing was great. Then I got the iPhone 3g, whick does not have voice dialing, so I lost that.

Incoming sound quality through the speakers is perfect, Outgoing sound through the mic is not as good. It has taken some fiddling with microphone placement to get the sound quality in the "good" range. RIght now I have the mic clipped to the front edge of the headliner just to the left of the rear view mirror pointing right at me. This is the best position I've found. Still, driving down a rough freeway makes the sound quality poor.

Overall I'm satisfied with the results, when a truly better system comes out I may switch, but I'd like to stay with MikeytheMini's wiring loom if possible.
