It's that time of year again. Time to head back up to Hot Springs on the annual spring rally. Come for a good time, a great run, and good food in the beautiful mountains of Asheville.

We will be meeting at the Ingles at the corner of New Leicester Hwy and Patton Ave in Asheville. We will be pulling out at 12 (noon) so please be half an hour early. The course will take us up through Leicester along NC-63, over the mountain to NC-209. From there we will head up to Hot Springs through a ton of twisties. COURSE IS VERY STEEP AND CURVY. ROUND TRIP IS 2HRS W/OUT LUNCH, PLAN ACCORDINGLY.

We will be stopping in Hot Springs for lunch at a local mom & pops dinner which I frequent every time I pass through. Very good food!

After lunch we will head back to Asheville following the very scenic Riverside Dr.

Well, with any luck, I'll have my car by then, and if this is the case, count my wife, son, and myself in. Sounds like great fun!! ....and my first rally in the new baby !!

 

Being that the road is very steep and curvy, will we be going at a slow(er) speed? My wife easily gets car sick, and I don't think it would be a good idea to make her first outing in the new Mini a memorable one (for the wrong reasons)?!?

 

It's not too bad. Since it is steep, can really go too fast. I just have to put a warning up there because people in the past didn't expect the rally to be so.... fun...

Have her take motion sickness pills, I'll try to keep the speed within reason.

 

Thanks for the info! Hopefully she'll do okay. I just don't want her to be hesitant to go on future drives with me. She says she doesn't like my driving anyhow! Can't understand why.....LOL!

 

As for this run, did it last year and the drive was great! I plan on making it again this year. Anyone from CLT area want to convoy up together let me know. We can meet at the BP Station 1st exit past Truck Scales just across the river on I-85 South. Will meet around 9am leave no later than 930AM. Let me know, if ya want to go to the home out on the range. Luke

Hey Luke & John, I have to bow out on the drive. I've gone blind again in my bad eye and I'll be having emergency surgery the first of next week. Sorry, but I can't take that long a drive (doctor's orders). UGH!!!!!

Yup, at Ingles parking lot at the corner of Patton and New Leicester HWY. At about 11:30.

 

Great fun and the food was excellent. Glad to meet all the newbies and of course the old crew. Had a great time on the twisties, except for the pickup that was in my lane on one of the curves. Oh well everything worked out especially my brakes. Thanks for putting this together Ben!

Probably, once it stops snowing here. Sometime in the spring hopefully
