Hi Kirk,

With credit to BBCooper way back in 2004 posting this on a related thread... I can't recall the thread but saved the steps he recommended:

1-Use a USB cable and connect to your Nuvi to your computer.
2-Navigate to the Garmin \ Vehicles directory
... you should see other srf files there.
3- Copy your new MINI (or other srf) file to this directory.
4- Safely remove your Nuvi from the computer.
5- Power on your Nuvi.
6- Select to Tools, Settings, Map, Vehicle
7- Use the scroll arrows to find you new vehicle icon and select OK..
8- Enjoy navigating with your MINI icon in your MINI..

And formmore icon fun ... Check out Garmin's official site for vehicles icons at..
http://www8.garmin.com/vehicles/

Hopefully this procedure works ok?

It lets you replace the little vehicle icon on your nuvi's moving-map display with a custom image (like a picture of a little MINI).

I am the one that is hosting the MINI files. The website where the links are at is in the beginning stages (have limited free time) and will be redone into a much better website including instructions to make the changes in the future. I think I found a person that can do Tom Tom files and I am looking for someone that knows how to modify the stock nav. Want nothing more than to just post this in an easy to find location.

What's the web site address so we can check it out? I got the .srf files from you back when you were still hosting them on your iDisk, so I'd like to see if there's been anything new added since then.

hunter99, I used your black/white top file to customize an icon that looks like my MINI. This was all done in Photoshop, saved as a PNG then converted so that it could be used on my Nuvi.

Ok so here's the link.

Here's a link to a website in which you can convert your PNG files to .srf files.

http://techmods.net/nuvi/

This is what I used to create the image in my last reply. You can edit the PNG in Photoshop, then convert it to an .srf

Hope this helps!

Here's the website forgot to post it. Still hosted on my iDisk for the time being. http://homepage.mac.com/WebObjects/F...cty=US&lang=en

How do you get the nuvi to display the mini logo instead of garmin during startup?

PS. Installed the chili red w/white roof, thank you!

Doubtful. Sunday drives are always a challenge due to church.

I used the same source, definitely makes the Nuvi more.....tailored. Although I switch to the Chipotle Burrito every once in a while for my vehicle setting.
