Embarrassingly dumb side scuttle problem

So I did something pretty stupid, and now I need help I was taking off my scuttles and I pulled a little too hard on one. The little gold metal piece that holds the light onto the scuttle came off and went down inside the fender

Looking down into the fender with a flashlight, I can see the part, but I can't see how to get it out of there. I'm not sure if I can get the wheel well liner off enough to reach the part without removing the wheel, and I don't want to do that.

Any suggestions??

Freshly chewed gum on the end of a thin stick?

There's probably some other material that will do equally well but that doesn't require chewing it first

Yeah that's exactly what I could've used. I tried a hanger with some really sticky packing tape on the end, but it pushed it further down so that I can't see it anymore.

But there's a plastic flap on the bottom of the car that goes over the wheel well liner that I think will give me access. There's one screw near where I think the part is, so I'll probably try that next.

Thanks...

Nice drawing! I've got one of those in my tool-box, and it's solved a lot of headache's. Definitely well worth the few $ it cost a few years ago.

It's call "Magic Fingers" or the more mundane "Mechanical Fingers". I use mine every time I work on a car. I got them at Sears.
