A new mod...simple, functional and won't void warranty>>>

On the passenger side door opening top there is a grab handle that was of no use to us...never used it. On the drivers side door opening top is a side sun shade that we use all the time... so why not have one on the passenger side (where we wished there was a shade)? Answer...go to MINI dealer and purchase the side sun shade (part catalog only shows one part for the driver side only), remove passenger side grab handle and install the side shade..is a direct fit>>>>

Now the passenger can enjoy the shade too

Michael

Nice mod. In my case, my passengers have found the handle to be useful.

If you're not using the Oh Sh*t! handle you're not doing it right. We use ours all the time. I always thought the passenger never had a sun shade as they can always look away if the sun's in the wrong direction, the driver has to keep looking forwards. (And then there's space for the handle.)

I wrote about doing this a while ago in the interior mods section. Glad to see someone else do it.

As one who for some reason does a good bit of motoring in the early morning or evening, there are times I would have liked to have a visor on the far side. I seldom have passengers, and so the handle goes largely unused.

+1

Good thinking...plus there's always that moment when the sun shines in directly between the visor on the front windshield and the one on the drivers side windows....

Side sunshade on drivers side is great but it does not go back far enough. I drive with the seat all the way back and there is a huge gap between the shade and the B pillar which the sun always seems to be in the position to shine through.

Michael that is a very nice and certainly a very useful mod

That is on my to do mods list

I've gotten the dreaded blinding sun shining in the passenger side window many times and the side sun visor is a must needed addition.

Very

In fact, I thought about the same thing when I first bought my MCS earlier this month. I'll ask about it when I have the JCW TK installed this Saturday.

Very cool mod but I have to agree with some others. My passengers know to grab that bar when I decide to make a turn without hitting the brakes. That maneuver just reminds me that I bought a MINI.

I just keep a spare pair of sunglasses for them should they need them.

I'm in the casual cruise mod when my wife is a passenger, otherwise w/o my co-pilot it is just me motoring like an MCS is meant to be motoring.

My passengers can wear shades, but they are grateful for those handles.
Nice touch though.
I wonder if "visor extenders" exist that fit the Mini visors? They're way too small for the windshield.

"grab handle that was of no use to us...never used it"= Epic Motoring Fail

But it's your MINI - and it's a good mod!

PS... my cabrio has no "hell handles" - much to the chagrin of most passengers...

Thats a really nice mod, good job!

However I have seen the handle used in my car on occasion so the handle doesn't exactly collect dust. Good to know that if it ever does, theres a fix.

Your quite right. I've been thinking the same thing. Its worse for me because I have my seat all the way down to get that psudo Porshe vibe going.

Thanks MeloR56!

I now have bilateral sun visors. Removed the passenger overhead handle & replaced with driver's lateral visor, ordered via MINI Parts Dept.

Swap was done at the MINI Center. So, I just had to show the Sales Mgr, as well as one of the techs. They both moreless said they were glad I showed them it was a direct fit.
