Source for OEM Replacement Brake Pads on R56

I've got an '07 R56. Its time for me to replace the rear brake pads, but I'm having trouble finding OEM replacements. The dealer wants $120 for the set, but I would like to spend less than that. I don't want pads designed for racing/auto-xing since I've got OEM's pads on the front that don't need to be replaced yet and I don't want the back brakes to grab considerably more than the front. There seems to be a lot of after market vendors for the 02-06's, but nothing for the 07-09's. Anyone have any suggestions?

I thought the brakes were covered up to 45,000 miles, Are you over that?

I had Carbotech™ Bobcat 1521 put in my 2007 MCS at about 2K miles and have the OEM pads that were taken off. PM me an offer if you want them. I'm easy on brakes, so they are in good shape.

May I ask how you came to need rear pads before fronts? The rear pads on the MINI's are so small you are not going to risk them gripping more then the fronts. Why is the Dealer not replacing them? Might also want to visit Way at http://www.waymotorworks.com/home.php there in GA for some advise too.

Call Classic MINI in Ohio, Phone:800.388.1098 or 440.266.6700 They have a nice NAM discount.

I'll have to agree with AX on this, why isn't your dealer replacing them under your warranty? Hmm....

Thanks for the links, I'll look into them. I have 46,000 miles on my Mini (the dealer told me I have more miles on my R56 than anyone else in the US). The fronts have already been replaced, and the dealer did cover that under the warranty. I guess my high mileage probably has a lot to do with my problem with finding OEM replacements. No one else needs them yet so the market hasn't brought the product to market.

If you are out of warranty, get a set of Carbotech™ Bobcat 1521 from AutoXCooper.com. They are excellent street pads. Very little brake dust, excellent braking feel, long wearing, and easier on the rotors than other pads.

Hey Brian, why not buy Robins OEM rear pads, install them on the OEM rotors and then when the fronts go out upgrade to aftermarket rotors, I'll have them by then, and pads, we got them now and do the same once the rear pads and rotors are toast too. If you are looking for a cool shift **** I think Robin could help there too. If you need a shop to do the work then I'd see Way Motor Works for the service. I take it from the last post you only had the 36K service agreement.

Maybe I'll look into the Carbotechs. I'm a little hesitant to get a racing pad since I can't afford to replace the pads and rotors constantly, but if the Carbotechs last longer and are easier on the rotors, then I would be interested in them. I'm guessing its recommended to have matching pads on the front and back?

^^^ not all Carbotech pads are racing pads. Sounds like you need the Carbotech STREET pad called the 1521 aka Bobcat. Based on your miles you would want to match with new rotors when you get them. But for now with the new OEM fronts just get the rear OEM pads from Robin and look me up in 40,000 miles. Happy Thanksgiving, Dustin
