Anyone else waiting for a boat?

Looks like my DS/B MCS is waiting for a boat in jolly old England. Anyone else's MINI just chilling at the port?

My build date is December 2. I hope yours is gone before mine gets done. I really have no idea how often they ship. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this.

My MA said that typically a car can sit from 2 days to a week before being loaded on the boat.

my car just landed in Port Huemene

My Mini was at the dock on the 31st of Oct, loaded on the 3rd of Nov, and the ship sailed on the 3rd. Ship docked at Port Huemene, Ca on the 23rd of Nov. Still have about 10 days before it arrives at Northwest Mini. Getting really excited.

It is definitely very exciting. This will be my second MINI - coming much faster than the first... I think my 06 took around 2 or 3 months to get to me.

I ordered this new one two weeks-ish ago and it's already waiting for a boat!

Anyways - I think it was marked as complete mid last week so hopefully we'll see a boat today or tomorrow.

Dealer told me to expect Mid December Delivery.

Keep me posted guys!

Good for you. I'm told the trip across the pond is the hardest part. Your almost home!! Post some pics when it arrives.

I purchased my cars at Northwest Mini as well.

Pat

I am also waiting for my first MCS to be built. It is scheduled to be built in December. I have been waiting for this moment since 2002. I am so excited and can hardly wait for it to arrive in a couple months to NW Mini. I actually cannot believe that they can be built so quickly. Thank goodness there is not such a long wait or high mark-up on these like there was a couple years back.

MCS = Laser Blue, Black roof, Black sports stripes,

Update! the MINI that was scheduled for Dec 2 has been moved to Dec 1. So both of our MINI's will be built the same day. That's good news. Hopefully they will make it on the same boat.

The factory can actually build 600 cars per day at full capacity. I don't know that they are at full capacity but to put it into perspective that is 1 car off the assembly line every 144 seconds. The Toyota line runs a car off the assembly line every 59 seconds. Big difference.

I have read that Toyota is slowing production to a car off the line every 71 seconds and in order to do that it takes months of planning to slow the production line. With all the different suppliers in the supply chain I can see how this task would take months to complete. Interesting stuff eh?

I'm getting pumped. Hopefully there will be no delay waiting for boat.

Regards,

Pat

Yeah, my MCS is just waiting to be loaded on a boat. Hopefully should be taking delivery in 2-3weeks.

Is that all the time it takes to get stateside? My MA said 3 to 4 weeks and then a week at least to get to the dealership.

If it's only 2 to 3 weeks that makes me a happy camper.

I hope you're right.

Regards,

Pat

I think it depends which coast you are on - or at least which coast your MINI is getting shipped to. Significantly less time to ship to the east coast than to the west coast I'd imagine.

I live in VA and car is being delivered to NYC so the trip is like 8-9 days. I would assume that yours is being delivered to CA and I think it is about 20 days for transport. So your MA is probably correct.

Wow Pat are you waiting for 2 MCS to be built? That would be fun. Trade off depending on what mood you are in and what outfit you are styiling . I cannot wait to receive mine in Late January and post some pics.

According to WW Logistics website my Mini is scheduled to be in Port Hueneme CA on Dec 4th then to Rasmussen Mini in Portland OR. Should I be expecting to receive a letter or phone call soon? The MA told me when I ordered that it wouldn't be here until the first half of Jan...

We are. My wife and I have been married for 26 years now and decided to get ourselves new cars. We both like the MINI and so there you go. They are also our Christmas gifts to one another as well.

We're getting anxious. We're going to keep our GTO but sell the Toyota Corolla and Mazda 3.

As soon as we take delivery I'll get some pictures up asap.

Regards,

Pat

Still waiting here as well.

I'd venture to say that all of us in the midwest and on the east coast will end up on the same boat. Hopefully soon!

I just caLLED AskMINI and the recorded announcement stated that my cars are "Released to a carrier and are awaiting transport to a port of exit."

That tells me they are waiting in the parking lot for someone to take to the ship and then I will probably have to wait again for a ship to become available. I'm on the West Coast. I sure hope it doesn't take a week to get on a boat.

My MA tell me it usually takes 2 to 7 days to get loaded on a boat.

All I can do is wait.

Regards,

Pat

Good for you!! Sounds like it will be easy before Christmas. I don't expect mine until the first of the year since it is not even on a boat yet.

Mine just updated to "In Transit" today as well! I haven't been able to track the VIN on any of the websites - so I'm not sure which boat. But I'd guess our MINI's are shipmates.

Also EMY-RDL thought you might be interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ondine

I have 2 cars on order. I have 1 confirmed loaded on a ship but the other is not. Even though they were completed the same day and shipped to the dock on the same day. Looks like 1 made the ship and the other didn't. I will wait 1 more day and see if the paperwork catches up with the car.

That would be a shame to have the cars shipped at different time and on different boats.

Hummmmmm
