Valentine 1 mount

Does anyone know where to purchase an Under the Mirror mount for the V1? The only one I can find is for the Bel/Escort.

I'm assuming you're talking about these?
http://www.countryjoycrafts.com/Conn...arDetector.htm

Have you contacted them to ask if they'll make you a MINI-style one for the V1?

I have the visor mount for my C6 Corvette and I bought it from www.greatlakestrophies.com . They also make a mount for the mirror. Its a simple little gadget but it serves the purpose. Im looking for one also and Ill give them a call this week to see if they make them for the Mini or see if they will. If enough people hound them they might make em.

That's somewhat ironic; I also purchased a mount from them for my C5. Please let me know if they can/will make one for the MINI.

Yes, I have contacted them regarding a mount to the V1. They stopped selling it due to installation problems. If I can't find anything else; I'll purchase the one for the Escort from them and fabricate a piece that will accept the V1 and bolt it to the bottom of their mount.

After looking over their website; it appears a slightly modified version of this mount may work by attaching to the back of the MINI mirror.

I placed the V1 right beside (left of) the rearview mirror. Fits perfectly well right under the headliner, and plenty of room for mirror movement if needed.

I have not tested this but my fear would be that mounting it so high inside the car would tend to hinder signals from the rear.

I have mine mounted that way as well. Works perfectly and receives signals front and back with no problem.

I am still looking for a way to not use the windshield mount. I just did that for my Garmin Nuvi using the gauge mount bracket and Nuvi extension from Craven Speed.

No problem at all. As long as from the box you have clear lines front/rear, you're good to go. And don't place it in a tint line up front if you can avoid it, that diminished forward values significantly. So far, I'm happy.

The other thing to remember is this: if you are pulled over, and it's a judgement call, and the cop sees your V1 down low and visible, trust me, you're toast.

Many, Many MINI owners (including me) use the high mount over the rearview mirror - works just fine.

According to Mike Valentine... the higher, the better (as long as the line of sight to the radar source isn't obscured - which it isn't).

thats where mine is aswell. does having tint on my windows decrease the accuracy of the valentine? my rear window is pretty dark - 20% charcoal tint with 20% chrome tint behind it - got a design thrown up in the back wind sheild.

I have mine in the same place. Right now I'm just using the windshield suction cup mount, but would like something without windshield mounting that keeps the V1 i the same place.

The power is easy-peasy. Taps into the power for the map lights in the headliner console. There is a complete writeup with pictures here on NAM somewhere, I think in the 2nd Gen electrical mods forum.

i tapped in somewhere near the sunroof, not sure exactly. the entire install took less than 20 minutes. mine is mounted with the windsheild suction cup thing as well, which im not too fond of but i live with. i will eventually get the rear view mirror thing mentioned earlier in this thread.

I also plan to tint the top of the front windshield. At that point mounting above the mirror is a dad option. I am going to work on a few companies and see if they would be interested in making a below the mirror mount for us. If not, I'm going to fabricate something out of the available parts.

When I had my M3, I mounted my V1 behind the tint on the top of the windshield. It worked just fine. Never had a problem in 3.5 years of use.

Remember the higher it is the less laser you pick up and more chance you have of missing radar/laser from the rear....although radar should bounce off the objects in front of you and reflect so that you pick it up....although then the $100 arrows will be pointless.

If being stealth is not a necessity then you may consider my setup through the bezel and to the fuse box (using an add a fuse) which will give you the best coverage for front and rear:

Hey folks

I have been conctacted by a party interested in designing an producing a mount that will allow installation of the detector below the mirror.

He really needs a rear view mirror from a MINI in hand to mock up the piece. Does anyone know where I might find a mirror to serve this purpose of mock up?

Is first gen the same as second? I have a 52 mirror laying around(auto dimming). I could be persuaded to part with it.

Mark me down as someone not interested in a below mirror mount. I think it will be too much in the way sitting there. I want mine above and to the left of the mirror, but I would like a mount that lets me keep it there so I can get rid of the suction cup mount.

IMHO, the upper right mirror mount of the unit and the remote display on the steering column is pretty cool. I think there's some pics in the first gen forum.
