The 08 Mini vs. 06 325i My thoughts

I have owned the 325i now for over a month and Apple has been gone that long....

*The BMW is a great car, Super quiet and smooth compared to Apple.
* When washing the BMW don't miss the black areas of the Mini.
* Miss the 41 MPG on the mini, getting a bit over 30MPG on the BMW.
*the navi on the mini looks cool, the navi on the BMW is better.
*The AC on the BMW is soooo Much better!
*love tha auto shade on the BMW, wish the mini had them

I will be ordering a new Mini soon, or maybe buying Apple back, as my business is going crazy, making good money!

The strange thing is, I found the 3-series to be more cramped than the MINI. I didn't even bother to take the BMW on a test drive because my right leg would be constantly pressed up against the center console.

Then again, I'm 6'4", and I'm guessing you're not.

I'm trying to understand your post. You seem to like the BMW more but you miss your Mini? What is it about the Mini that you prefer, or is missing from the BMW?

I'm trying to decide now whether to buy a 09 MCS or a used 07 BMW 325 with 2 years maintenance/3 years warranty. Price is about the same. I don't expect that I would get 30mpg on the BMW but it is a more practical car. You can comfortably seat 4 and the ride is smoother. Bottom line though - which car is more fun?

It's nice to see someone out there making money in this economy, especially in that industry. Very nice!

Now go bring your baby home!

Sandy a very nice comparison between the 2 cars.

I saw in a different thread that you posted that Apple is still on the dealer lot after 1 month now so if things are looking good you might be able to buy back Apple at a great price!!

I can't speak for Apple, but speaking as someone who has owned quite a few and still own two BMWs and now a Mini, the Mini is way more fun than the 325. To me, it is not even close. I currently have a 335 and would give that up before the Mini.

If you need to seat 4 and are looking for something smoother, the 325 would be probably be a better choice. As far as fun, IMHO the Mini wins hands down. Driving a Mini is very addictive.

Makes complete sense. If your business is to "flip homes", then you MUST have a comfortable four door automobile and that lets the MINI out.

Now, if you are successful in that business, you can still add a MINI for your driving fun.

I'm 6ft 4, and couldn't agree more. I almost fall over getting out of the long low cars like Bmw's and always have to rely on leaning on the door or grabbing on the roof and pulling myself out, and I'm young and fit, so I worry for the future. For those of you who are short, getting in to some of these low sleek cars is basically getting low enough that your knees are bent more than 90's degrees, aiming your *** for the seat and hoping to god that you nail it once you let gravity take over. The mini is so tall and box-shaped that I can pile in and out without bashing my head or falling! I feel your pain brother

I don't have a MINI yet (soon... soon...), but I've done a few test drives and when I tell coworkers and the like about my car purchasing plans they're always, "are you sure you'll fit in one of those?!" They never believe me when I say that I have to actually move the seat forward for my legs to reach the pedals comfortably.

About the only concern I have with the "fit" in a MINI is the way the rearview mirror is right in the way of my field of view of the road. But that's been discussed in other threads already.

If I keep my old beater I don't really need another car that can seat 4 (we have a minivan as well). The 07 328i is a classier car. It's easy to find flaws in the Mini but I find myself noticing all of the Minis on the road. I have to keep myself from finding excuses to test drive one just one more time. Unfortunately, the wife thinks the Mini looks ugly.

Well the mini is fun, but really love being in the BMW, my timing was nit right buying and waiting for Apple, before my two minis I alwasy had a SLK or a 325i, I do love the BMW, PS the 325i in 07 is a 328i

The mini is fun HOWEVER if you drive alot, the 325 makes more sense, and when I traded apple, lost only 1K total of new price I paid so for me it was a great deal.

Shorter friends

I drove a BMW 325e for over 20 years. I loved that car obviously. When it came time to start looking for another car, I waivered back and forth between a MINI and a BMW. During my ownership of the BMW I can nearly count on one hand the times that I used the backseat for people vs "stuff". Even the day I purchased my MINI, I still had second thoughts about going with a MINI vs going for another BMW. I drove MINI home from LA, sold the BMW and haven't looked back since.

There is something about the MINI that just makes me smile and can turn a bad day around. MINI is like my cocoon away from the world. Admittedly I am only 5' 4" but my car just "fits" me perfectly. No matter what, MINI and I will be together forever. If need be, I will find shorter friends for the backseat!

If you dont need to take people daily to show them my property's, the mini would be fine, but the BMW is needed now,Plus where i live I need more HP for the large pickups and the people who own them:(

No comparison, the MINI is more fun to drive (in busy urban settings especially) than the 325/328. Even the first generation R50 Cooper gives me a much bigger smile than my Wife's '07 E90 3 series. I'm 6'-4" and find the BMW cramped - my head is very close to the b-pillar, and the outward visibility suffers vs. the MINI. The 3 series is a great touring car, quiet and refined. The MINI - more smiles per miles.

Apple, some readers may not have read your other posts. Remind us how many cars you've owned in the last five years. This year?
