how do i know if my hood scoop melted? does anybody have a pict? my scoop as a VERY small dip in the top center instead of being flush with the metal part of the bonnet. but i don't want to bring it up to my dealer if its not as bad as other people are experiencing.

as the plastic melts and solidifies it becomes hard and eventually won't melt no more.

Same here, and you know what? I'm over it. Visually it isn't significant enough for me to care all that much. Then again, after 6 mos. of ownership I am way less OCD about minor stuff like this than I was when I first got her.

I always wondered if they actually melted or if they were just like that from the beginning but no one noticed until later... That area in the middle is where it attaches to the hood so maybe it's just screwed down too tight... I've yet to see any "melting" worse that the picture above...

Check out the photos on the other threads. Some of the melting is much worse (I've noted obvious melting and deformation on local MINIs parked on the street here, too).

Yeah, mine is exactly like that too (apart from being Chilli Red). April 2008 build.

I'm not OCD about this enough to do anything until a) it gets worse or b) I go for service.

John.
