Interior/Exterior Removing rear seatbelts
Removing rear seatbelts
Just wondering if any one knows how or knows of a how to guide that involes removing the rear seatbelts. I want to delete the back seats but the look of the belts still there bothers me. Thanks
Removing the rear seatbelts is an easy process.
1. You'll need to remove the two seat backs & the single seat bottom. This is achieved by folding the seatbacks down and loosening/removing the bolt that can be seen between the two seat backs. Once the bolt is removed, you'll need to "lift" the mechanism to expose the seat back connectors; pull up on the seat back. To disengage the seat back from the interior side panels, you'll need to hold the seat back at a 45-degree (approx) angle and wiggle it out. Think of it as a circle with grooves extending at the 9 & 3 positions; you have to twist the seat back so that the extension piece on the seat back mates with the grooves in the interior side panel.
2. Once the seat backs/bottom have been removed, you'll see how easy it is to remove the seatbelt female assemblies.
3. In order to remove the seatbelt male assemblies, you'll need to remove the interior side panels in order to gain access to the size 50-torx bolts that secure the seat belt assembly into the b-pillar.
NOTE: I don't know if removing factory-installed seatbelt assemblies will cause a "break" in the circuitry for the SRS. Perhaps another NAMer will be able to provide that info.

I'd take pics, but I still haven't reinstalled my interior side panels...so there's nothing "there" to show you how the grooves look. If you have a Bentley manual, it's in there...section 520 seems to come to mind...or maybe that's the section for interior trim. I've done a lot to the inside of Schultze that I cannot accurately recall the section numbers. (sorry)
You can remove them, or do it my way. Just tuck them behind the C pillar. That way, if you ever need them again, they are there. I don't have any pictures right now.
1. Do everything the rattle can queen said, except removing the C pillar cover
2. Remove the bottom part of the belt where it is bolted to the floor under the seat.
3. Replace the bolt in the hole.
4. Take the panel off in the boot where you change the rear tail lights out and reach up inside and grab the seatbelt.
5. Start pulling the seat belt downwards. You'll notice the strap that you undid from the floor starts coming upwards.
6. Keep pulling until the metal bracket is at the slot in the B pillar. Now just work it gently through and voila !!! You now have seatbelts tucked behind the B pillar waiting to be used again in the event you decide that your midlife crisis is over and you want your backseats again, or you decide to sell the car. The only thing you will see in the slot is the plastic rectangle that was on the seatbelt, but it doesn't look tacky and actually looks like it goes there. I'll see if I can post some pictures for you.

Grab and pull, it will stay tethered to a strap on an upper connector. The seat back reel is held on with a torx (T-40?) and a tab engaged in a slot.
I placed automotive carpet behind the opening on the C-pillar and the hole on the side panel so it wouldn’t have a vacant look.

A tip for whenever you decide to reinstall them, the reel’s catch mechanism is activated and released with a magnet via gravity; orient the reel in the installed position to pull the belt out.
