Does my MA know what she's talking about?

So I called my MA today to ask when the revised JCW tuning kit would be released (later this month?) because I am taking delivery of my MCS at the end of this month and I want it installed when it gets to the dealership. She said she never heard it was revised and it is still available? What gives?

it wasnt really "revised" just since 8/26 it's available for automatics. the only change between pre- and post-July 08 builds is the exhaust bracket, dont ask me why.

Find another MA. She is clueless. 'nuff said.

Generally, I find that the SAs/MAs know enough to sell you the car. When it comes to mods and other usual things, they are not too good. Once in a while, you will find some ex-racers who really know their stuff. Unfortunately, I find those at Porsche much more often than Mini. But sequence is right, it is more fun if you can find one who knows more than you do about the car.

Generally, the blogs and internet have more material than what is given o the SAs/MAs during their Monday morning meetings. Not sure I can believe everything on the web.

If you find an MA that knows less than you, move on. there is plenty of US GREAT MA's who will build and help you configure something with the most FUN for your buck...I very seldom I encounter a "buyer" who know more then most of us here, most of the time they think they know more after reading the online info but is usually wrong info anyway.
The more the client knows the better build up we can come up with...

Ah.. and more more thing if your MA drives a MINI there is a good chance this MA knows what he/she is talking about.

Great. An SA/MA who is on NAM. Unfortunately, I think you may be the minority. I went to four dealerships here in the NE (around NYC) and could not find someone I liked with the prerequisite knowledge. I wanted to buy a track car. The only thing they could really tell me is that track work will viod my warranty. My typical questions relate to third party brakes, pads types, rotors, reliability of certain power packages available etc.

Perhaps I should have gone down to Florida.

Just got this from Morristown Mini. Anybody else been told this?

From:Will O'Dowd Date:Monday, September 22 2008 10:00 AMSubject:At this time the JCW engine kit is not available for 09 MINI's. It would take about two weeks to get it to when it becomes available.

Read the other threads, the JCW Tuning Kit is only available for minis made before July 2008, the new models require a different exhaust mounting bracket

Sorry, wasn't paying attention. Somehow I missed the connection between post 7/08 builds and model year 2009.

actually in a way Im hoping it wont be available by the time I get my 09 in early nov, so I can experience the diff between the 2.

but my SA said the exhaust bracket part# would be listed by the end of Sept, and be available on the 2009s by mid Oct.

There are more than you think. However, most have to keep quiet about it if thier dealership isn't a paid sponsor/vendor of NAM.
