HELLO MINI GEEKS!! I'm finally out of my heads down work rut. And ready to ride.

Food sounds good, is there a ride planned? Where to?

Actually, yes.

We are encouraging our picnic attendees to come early (after the Broncos game) and take the loop around the park (lake). You can come to the picnic area, then go do the loop too, whatever. Being that you are going to pay $7 to enter the park it makes sense to enjoy it.

I will attach a MAP below so you can find your way around. BTW, the entrance to the park is along the LEFT side of the map, off Wadsworth and C-470. See the area for the balloon launch. Then follow that road sort of NNE to the top of the spillway, overlooking the North Boat Launch. That is where the MINI picnic and end of summer party will be.

BTW, we have a FEW extra MITM3 Picture CD's available for sale, but not many. $10 and they are killer....

REMINDER: BRING YOUR LITTLE FOLD UP CHAIRS. That way, there is comfortable seating....

It is a state park

and their official literature states "...all pets must be leashed..."

Sounds like a welcome to me.

Check out the calendar for an added bonus event the morning of the picnic.
I've added a run up Mt. Evans for those that wish a little more of a challenge that morning.
8:00 AM Stegosaurus Lot (I-70 & CO-26)
Up Mt Evans via Morrison, Evergreen & Squaw Pass then down to the picnic via Squaw Pass, N Turkey Creek & Deer Creek Canyon. An early start means we should be at Chatfield in plenty of time.
So sign-up for both events on the calendar:
Ride: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...=2008-9-28&c=2
Picnic: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...=2008-9-28&c=2
.
The back-up ride is up Squaw Pass and back - still fun if not quite as high.

I just checked -- the top 5 miles of mount evans is already closed. The first 9 miles from the entrance to Summit Lake might be open until Oct 1st, or not, depending on the weather.

You gotta love Colorado!
So don't forget shovels - we're going to the top with or without CDOT's help.

Was the ride start time just changed to 8:00 AM?
Yes it was because I'm assuming that we won't be allowed to the top.
Well that's much better, thanks - now I can make it. (7:00AM on a Saturday - what a joker).
We are here to please and accommodate you when we can. Thanks for playing.

We have it on our calendar as a possibility... the only thing stopping us would be if this baby decides to make her appearance before then! ...which is quite possible but not definite.

Maybe see you then?!?

Heather - I'm sure that among all the MINI5280 members we have a doctor or two and more then a few nurses. In fact I know Whitlow was a pharmacist so we got you covered whatever happens.
Is there a doctor in the house?

Frankly, it is the PERFECT location

for a LifeFlight helicopter to get in to - totally unobstructed. We can all put on the lights and wave the boots up and down and signal them in. Hey, and Littleton Hospital is just down the road on B-way if need be.

The community takes care of it's own. And if the baby does come, let's hope it arrives before Sunday Night Football starts.

I remember when Berk was born. The whole experience kind of reminds me of an episode of 'I Love Lucy'.
