Today

It was fun seeing everyone today at the Square. Keep me posted on the October event. I will try and have baked goods for then (sorry I let everyone down today!)...maybe pumpkin roll since it is my fall specialty...if Becca will share!! If people are serious about Greg's suggestion about a Put In Bay MINI weekend (next year?), here is the website for the B&B: http://www.blacksquirrelbnb.com/index.htm Its near the airport (not downtown) and close enough to the winery And Rob & Maria are super nice, and make fabulous sausage gravy and biscuits Sunday mornings! Rates are less just before Memorial Day and just after Labor Day. We can start our own thing...instead of MINIs on the Dragon, we have MINIs on the Bay!

And if anyone finds fabric with MINIs on it, grab a yard (or 2!!) and let me know!!! I have an idea...

Hey, I totally agree that WE should organize/host a pre or post "season" Mini's at the Bay event (and get it "advertised" minimally (ha) as a regional draw). The biggest issue I see is the lack of a potential "signature drive." I mean the roads on MBI are less than "adventerous." (Not counting driving a golf cart drunk around downtown at 3AM...those are stories (Kim) for another time though)...Editor's Note: The author has no facts relating to kimoz driving a golf cart while intoxicated around PIB, but if there was someone in our midst that would have that story to tell, I would bet on her ...now, back to the program...

So, perhaps start the adventure somewhere on the mainland with a drive through CVNP (or similar) or line up a track day or something and then caravan to PIB (or from if the "grand drive" ends the event).

I would hope we could work something out with Miller Ferry to get a discounted rate for all Minis ($50 round trip as I recall last year for a car and two peeps).

I will be happy to either assist on the team or take the lead if we want to further pursue this opportunity.

If we can really get the ball rolling on something like this and involve other groups (lower MI is kinda close to the area...), maybe we can have some kind of car show up there too...there is a lot of park space where I have seen tents and such set up for other functions. Our friends who own the B&B can probably tell us who we need to talk to. As for a drive, there is the lighthouse in Marblehead on the mainland and I am sure other stops in the vicinity and it can end at Perry's Monument on the island (which is right next to the park I mentioned earlier) and don't forget about the cave and winery too...we can make it nautical themed! Now if we can only get the "Cranky German" to get his boat up there...lol. And since we don't have a MINI I bet Moose will want to ride the motorcycle up there and stick me in car with someone else-lol. Anyone want to "adopt" me???

We need to move first! We have 6 vehicles (only 5 road worthy) and we live in a condo with a 2 car garage!! We have 2 cars and a motorcycle in the garage, and a truck parked outside. Yeah, the condo association loves us. So, in the mean time, we live viacriously thru you guys!!

BTW...for my project idea, if anyone finds fabric (can be print or solid...but must be cotton) that is a perfect match for your MINI's paint job/color (in addition to fabric with actual MINIs on it I mentioned earlier in the thread), please grab some-a fat quarter or 1/4 of a yard will be plenty. I have a cool idea I want to work on over the winter so we can start off the 2009 car show season with it...so if you find something please get it to me or Becca or Mark by November-thanks!!!

1st - the PIB golf cart event mentioned by the Czar is true but I was not driving. I had no license and cabin-mate rented the fore mentioned cart, I was merely a passenger with directions to cabin. I have nothing to show to get beads but caib-mates did. Island Virgins they were.

PIB = HEAVEN ON EARTH.

We talked about a MINI Spring drive in 09 about this.

2nd - If we could get warden to move now I have plenty of driveway space. I have to find place to live soon - BTW.

I nominate Bob

to put together the PIB thing. Pre memorial day is a great(cheraper) idea but post Labor day would be less busy Mini wise as not as many out of town types will come so soon after the dragon and with the PUB 6/6.

I'm in either way and so is MM unless she cuts me loose before then. Just don't ask me to help as I'll be neck deep in PUB prep!!!

I am definitly game to put a hand in planning too...I sent Czar/Swami a message with some ideas I had already. I will up there 9/12-9/14 so if there are things we need to find out/people to talk to, I can definitly do some leg work then!! I know the weekend immediatly following Labor day every year, there is an art festival in the park and about a million Boy Scouts and a parade with antique cars, so we'd have to look at the 2nd weekend after. I think a good place to start is to figure out how big/extensive we want to make this, and what events we want to include (drive? show?) and delegate from there...I can plan the baked goods/snacks-lol Just kidding!! I was joking with Becca and Mark tonight we should come up with a signature flavor muffin and have MINI-muffins-haha. Ok, so wierd thoughts come to me when I am laying in bed at night and can't sleep...

Ok...we need to have a "sit down" with the family...FUUUUUUUUUUGHEDABODIT...seriously, let's make this happen, but as importantly, let's amke it happen RIGHT so we get good participation, feedback and desire to make it an annual event.

Whatever you can find out on the island this weekend would be bonus!!! let's plan on a get together in the VERY NEAR future, perhaps Browns or OSU game viewing involved to set up a game plan.

Ok, so special note on the advertisement flyer to fill up on the mainland! Maybe we can have a contest to guess how many MINIs can fit on one Ferry over to PIB. Haha. Seriously, if anyone has questions or thoughts, send 'em my way and I will see how much I can find out 9/12-14...maybe when you guys get together for the outing the same weekend, call me with a list? I was going to see if Miller Ferry line can cut a deal for a function and find out if the park is available and what we need to do to reserve it if we decide to do a show.
