Another Joey Mod, but with Plastidip!

I've been running my 04 joey modded xenons for a while now, I've decided to move up to the 05+ style. Decided I would try something a little different. (and im too impatient to do proper paint prepwork) So i bought some black and red plastidip spraycans. Its rated for 200 degrees. but I baked them in the oven at 230 and it still held up fine. We'll see how they do in the long run.

Did I mention that I only have one 05+ headlight right now? I'm still looking/saving for a driver side, lol. My mini looks a little cross eyed right now

Looks suh-weet! I'm loving the two-tone look, I'm definately planning something similar, but using different colors in the future.

Are you purchasing your headlights new, or are they donors from a different MINI? Do you mind if I ask what you paid either way?

The plastidip looks really nice. The two tone really goes great with your car.

What are you doing with the Xenons after this is all done?

There is no way i'd buy these new. too much $$$. they usually sell for 300+ each on eBay whenever they pop up. depends on the condition or if anything is broke.

its just a vanity plate. its always on the car, but in my state, we're not required to run front plates.

omg Snypr, that is awesome looking

The two different headlights makes it look like your MINI is in a state of metomorphosis, it's turning into "Cyborg Mü ShÄDD MINI.... "

1) Did you have to MOD the harnass or was it "plug n play ?

and

2) Any idea if the tail lights from these different years are also interchangable ?

very nicely done! The red accent looks pretty sweet. God I want to do the Joey Mod so bad, but I don't know what would look best on Dark Silver

it was plug n play, i already had factory xenons, just the pre-face lift version. taillights do change, but i cant remember what year. mine only has two lights other MINIs have 3.

I'll take a pic first thing tom. The great thing about plastidip is it wont easily chip like reg paint.

Yup, just alcohol. No need to sand nor prime. Straight on spray. For best results, start with a light overlay spray then stack on an additonal coat every 30 min. 5-6 coats should look pretty good. I also baked it a little bit under a hot lamp.

after u let a coat set for 30mins, you can put the part in the oven to speed up the drying process...just make sure you wait at least 30mins to allow for harmful vapors to rise off.

i'm bored, figured id show some night shots... the projectors(left) have factory 4300k. the 04 xenon(right) has 8000k. I'll get a comparison with the new 6000k as soon as they arrive.

and here is a crappy pic of the cutoff and color on my house.
