We have a new supplier for these parts and there is a GB going for these right now as well.

So if you are still interested I can put you on the GB list.

I've got a set of the AC door handle covers. Great stuff & the owner has second to none customer service. I'd say jump in on his GB while you can.

I haven't seen any of AC's new stuff but I have been in awe of the work I've seen and the parts I've received from Rogue Motorsports aka roguese7ens. You can email him at roguemotorsports@gmail.com and make sure he knows you're a NAM member.

A GB is a Group Buy. you can find it here. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=156826

It will only take about a month to get all the parts made and sent out. as we make the molds. when the molds are done and we start making the parts it will be only a couple weeks for delivery. We are working on the new molds right now and will have the door handles done this week. The mention of 4 months has been removed. That had to do with the guy that we let go.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!

This is the guy that stole my molds and still owes me parts from the last Group Buy. I also own the molds and the rights to make these parts. So he can not leagally sell you any parts.

OMG That is about the most absurd thing I have ever heard!!!

AC owns the rights to parts made by BMW? HA HA HA

Can not leagally sell you any parts???? HA HA HA HA

How much of the car does AC have the right to?

This is why I will never buy from AC!!!!

Rogue has been doing parts for me for years now. He is usually busy, but the quality of the parts is the best I have seen. I've asked Jim about his relationship with AC and he has never said anything negative, although he did tell me one time that he had been trying to brake ties for a long time. Now I know why. I could never work with a company that expresses an attitude like that and I will never buy from them or recommend anyone else to.

Seriously Jim has done orciari scoops, a pillars, multi-function steering wheel spokes (only $110.00 for all three), gas cap (in carbon kevlar), dash, headlight rings, rear hatch latch. Right now I am waiting for him to schedule me for new headlight rings, steering wheel spokes, door handles and a few interior parts all in carbon kevlar. I already have a buyer for the carbon parts.

Ha I just saw this come up and +1 for Rogue. The best parts and customer service.
Those comments from AC are just stupid if you ask me. I have been in the field of composites for years and believe me Rogue knows his stuff and how to get it done.
AC had a thread just a few days back that was full of BS just to try to excuse raising his prices and when I asked him about it he refuse to give a reasonable answer.
The parts I showed earlier were all made by Rogue Motorsports and they are not thin stick on pieces, they are well done overlays so are bonded right to the part. They look awesome. I know he has done other parts that I have seen show up on the forum. One that I saw a little while back was a rear diffuser for a R56, again awesome work Rogue.
Don't just laugh it off Rogue, as I've said before, you are the carbon god!!

I'll have to look for the diffuser, have you seen this https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...=119730&page=7 Jim did the carbon for this car and I actually saw the parts at his shop and the picture don't do justice.
I know Rogue is on a couple other forums and is viewed as the best carbon guy around.

Ya don't just laugh it off Jim, you are too much of a nice guy.

Well thanks guys, but I don't think this should go any further. AC and I parted on good terms and shook hands. I have a couple things to send him but that's it. I'm not a vendor on this site and don't use it to promote my business. Mike is a vendor and has every right to promote his. So let's keep things positive and enjoy our rides.

Yes, a company can own the rights to custom molds created for any accesory part, bumper, ground effect, etc. That's what keeps companies from stealing each others designs. It works for companies as small as AC up to multinationals like Coke.

So yes, if AC owns the molds, Rouge can not legally use them.

If Rouge develops molds of their own it can be argued by a good lawyer that they are also the property of AC because the knowledge gained during the production is AC's molds was used to create the new ones.

If Rouge is duplicating Orciari scoops he is violating several national and international copyright laws. If he is making his own custom design that's a different story.

I'm more than slightly touchy about this subject as I am a designer & have to constantly fight for my legal rights to be paid for work I've created and keep others from stealing it for profit.

So don't mock things you don't know about.

Come on!!
It was pretty clear that these are not stick on parts. The molds are owned by BMW!!!
How can AC claim rights to original BMW parts????????
If what you say is true then any paint shop who paints a part on the car that AC also makes is doing so "violating several national and international copyright laws".

It is such presumption that I have seen in this vendor and others that is driving me and others away from this site.

And you say "So don't mock things you don't know about."

Um, no. It's pretty clear that AC makes covers, not replacement parts. They attach with high bond adhesive. They do not have the identical dimensions as the BMW part so no foul.

No, you can paint anything you want. Painting has nothing to do with copyright or trade secrets.

Copyright and trade secret law is tricky so let me break it down.

OK, lets say a company named "Company A" made a mold for carbon fiber wheel arches.

"Company B" comes along, gets a set of the arches, takes them to the shop & duplicates the mold and starts selling the parts.

Company B is in violation of Company A's intellectual & physical copyright as well as violating trade secret laws.

If Company B had developed their own arch completely independently of Company A, that's what we call healthy competition & no foul there.

Now if Company A paid Company B to develop the arch molds things are different depending on how the contract is set up. In most scenarios Company A outright owns the molds because they paid to have them developed & Company B can not use the molds for any purpose other than to make parts for Company A.

Some companies have such stringent contracts that they control anything that gets made while working with them. Disney is a good example, of how evil a company can get. In it's standard contract Disney owns anything an animator/illustrator/designer draws, sketches, sculpts or otherwise creates at work or during the animators free time at home.

Now I don't know how AC and Rouge had their deal setup which is why I said IF a lot in my earlier post. I'm not pointing any fingers but I will defend ANY vendor who is being insulted by people who don't understand what they are talking about.

This is just too much for me to believe and this is my last post on this subject.

Company A can make all the part and molds they want, but they can't stop company B or any other company from going to the dealer, buying OEM part and overlaying them with carbon. What is so hard to understand, company A is being an a@$ by telling everyone they own the rights to molds for OEM parts. That is exactly what AC has done. He has plainly stated that he own the rights to carbon wrapped parts that are on my car.

I don't care if AC makes covers or not. I don't want them. I don't see what is so tricky. AC is making statements that are outright lies and the more I read on this thread the less I trust him or anyone who tries to tell me that he is correct.

I've been an engineer working with composites for large aircraft for decades and have consulted on many projects, I've dealt with plenty of patents and copyrights, I think your vendor is the one who doesn't know what he is talking about.

DL signing off from this one.

We had a Mini meet this weekend and some of our members mentioned that they are displeased with AC's stuff and the lack of customer service from him
