Interesting Dyno

My mini is getting tuned in October. So i decided to look up the location of where its getting done. Its a good company but their dyno is a bit different to the norm. As in you dont need your wheels.

It's fine. In fact, it's good. Generally more accurate than drum-type dynos. Plus much easier to do AWD vehicles, not that it matters much to your situation.

I believe Jan prefers these dyno's because they are more accurate. Makes sense given that they have much less rotating mass to dampen out the way then engine is showing its power.

These are load bearing dynos....

so you won't see as smooth a graph as with an inertial dyno. Also, there's a bit of a delta because the wheel and tire mass isn't involved, and there's no loss from deforming the tires, and no wheel slippage. These are pretty much all good things.
