BFG G-Force

BFG G-Force T/A KDW 2 to be exact. I am thinking of getting them. Anyone else running them? What do you think? How are they in the rain? etc etc etc....

I am thinking of putting them on ASA AR1s.

Those are loud from what I heard, I had a set in my garage never got around to install them and eventually got rid of em, the ones I had were 215/35/18 I ended up getting Pirelli P Zero Nero in the 220 treadwear, sticky tires!!!

I had them on my Civic Si. Yes they are a little loud, but they grip like crazy. Plus they look pretty bad ***.

Great tires, good dry grip and great wet grip. I dont think they are particularly loud tire at all.

I had the 215/40/18" on my car when I bought it used. Took it to MOTD-5 in '07 & was totally pleased dry & rain conditions both. Our group of drivers we hung w/ had various tire brands which we could hear the others squealing corners when we did not. After 4 days of spirited driving, I had very even - reasonable tire wear, others had bald edges.

We ran w/ 36lbs-psi front, 32lbs-psi rear. My digital depth gage showed even wear inside to outside, right front & left rear exactly the same tread use to .005". Left front had more wear, right rear had least. (When I got home I had the LF & RR rotated.) My friends that were squealing the corners asked me why they never saw my brake lights...I told them I never needed to brake, just took the corner at speed cause I could!

In April MOTD-6 was coming & I wasn't sure I had enough tread to go 3800 miles & play while we were there. Looking at them on Tirerack.com, there is a compare o list of 50 other tires. The KDW-NT (new tread) = KDW-2, was rated 5th out of 50, but best for the catagories most important to my wants. So I got another set, my son took the used set to keep for Auto-Xing.

As far as loud, I can hear my Dinan exhaust slightly, not the tires much at all, except when on ruff surface roads.

Mike

I have the regular KDWs and they are pretty nice summer tires. Really have some excellent dry grip although tend to be pretty temperature sensitive. I gave up on running them in autox after they started getting too hot and loosing some of the grip. In the sweet spot where you don't overdrive they seem to be up there with the extreme summer tires. With my tread pattern they are excellent in the rain, and actually ran them in some light snow and that wasn't terrible.

Yeah, I had read that they have a little road noise, but to me thats fine. 205/45ZR17 are the ones that fit the ASA AR1s So those are the ones I would get. Yeah they look pretty fickin awesome! And on the performance side, they are fabulous. According to Tirerack tests. Well thanks for all the info!

So you going with them? Also you never said what size you are looking at? If I was to do it again I would have gone with 17/7.5 rims instead of 17/7.

Why 17x7.5?

The ASA AR1s don't come in that size for minis. I could look at different wheels, but why would you go with the wider wheel?

7 is appropriate for your tire size selected. As for the noise everyone complains about, I have yet to experience any bad noise on the regular KDWs with with 6k miles and about 15 hard auto crosses. Possible that its a tread pattern thing and the standard pattern isn't effected.

They spread the 215's out just allitle more and give it a better look. IMO

Well that would be a reason for going bigger, and thanks for the suggestion, but the ASA AR1s are what I can afford and all that fit em is the 205/45 17. So thanks anyway.

I have the KDW 2 on as street tires..
Used them for a track day .... and we quite good
I have also used them as a gravel / wet auto x tire (cause it was really gravely and wet , and I didnt even take my A6s to the event...)

I was actually at an unfair advantage

Will buy again

I ran 215/45/17 F1's on mine, straight from Tire Rack. Absolutely no issues

For people who have these tires (BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2), how long did they last? I'm a little disappointed with mine; I had them put on May 2007 and used them about 6-7 months before I switched them out for my Blizzaks for the winter, and so far this summer I've had them on since the last weekend in April, for a total of about 12 months on the tires (and I'll guess 16,000 to maybe 18,000 miles, but I didn't write down the mileage when I took the Blizzaks off this spring, d'oh) and the fronts need replacing already. Is this normal? I kinda expected them to last a little bit longer.

For the record, I do find them to be a bit loud. I ordered 2 new ones from a local shop as one is slowly losing air so I need it fast, but now I'm having second thoughts about getting the same tire again.

I think they last and wear very well! Both my husband and I have both had them on our MINIs. Yes, they are a little noisy in comparison, but worth the sticky! the bonus is they look very nice and aggressive!

Did yours last longer than 12 months? How many miles did you get out of them? I am having second thoughts, they aren't cheap.

My husband went 1.5 years on them in autoX, but they definitally were finished by then. I have had mine for about 1/2 year, and they still look like new! I will get them again with no questions. Everyone has their own opinions. They are louder than others, but I have two toddlers - so I don't hear them much!
