Wait time for my MINI to go into production...

I placed an order for a MC 08 nearly 2 weeks back with the mountain view MINI dealership and my MINI has still not gone into production. Whats the average wait time like for an 08 to go into production? I think all the MINI dealers in the bay area suck!

Yeah, but you're a freak of nature!!!

I got a production date as I ordered, because I just took over a reserved dealer slot. As it turns out, they bumped my date up to be sooner than that (my MA said they would do that when it changed from a dealer order to a customer order.) It took about 2 1/2 weeks to get into production (6/18 order, 7/4 started production, 7/11 completed, 7/18 on a ship.) It will depend on the model, though. A lot of Clubman orders have taken a long time to get fulfilled.

its easy to calculate, take your total life time and double it then cut it in half +1-2 week to it, then the most horrible wait happens of when its gana get to you. It seems now its taking long and longer then it did a few months ago

Also, make sure to check your sources. Talk to a real person at ASKMINI, and you might find out a lot more information than if you're just checking with the OL. The OL appears to be days behind on updating, which is just unacceptable to those with the Wantmahmini disease. :P

I'm in a similar situation as the original poster...

I placed my order about a week and a half ago. As of today the Owner's Lounge tracking shows its still "on order" the ASKMINI said scheduled for production with no production date set. How is that possible? A schedule with no dates??

I'm guessing its due to the switch over to 09 models. I think our MINIs will be the last round of 08s produced.

It will remain on order until you get closer to the production week. I've been on order since the beginning of June. The lounge is also a bit behind ASKMINI. What's your production week?

Sounds good. We are in week 30, so maybe by the end of the week it should show a production status. From what I understand when it changes status it pretty much means it will be starting production soon.

I have come to the conclusion that is all has to do with dealer allotment. I ordered mine on 6/11 and there are people who ordered after me already driving their MINI. A bunch of us Week 29ers finished within a day or two of each other. We saw a trend.....east coasters and west coasters are already crossing the pond, while south and mid-west are still sitting on the docks.

Sitting on the dock

Mine was born 7/15. At the port 7/18. Still waiting to get on a ship. I'm in the Mid-west.

Correction to time line. ASKMINI said the car will probably be in production for two days before the OL status changes. So call ASKMINI when your week is about to begin.

I ordered mine from MINI SF on 6/19, went into production on 7/7 or so, was finished 7/13, and loaded on a ship 7/19 to arrive in CA with arok's car. I expect to pick it up around 8/18 or so.

If you ordered an S, expect a bit longer wait. When I test drove at MV, the MA told me 2 months for an MC, 3 for an MCS. (that was mid-June).
