Can you name this roof racks Crossbar?
Can you name this roof racks Crossbar?
Alright guys and gals, I have spent enough time searching for these cross bars. It's time to ask for some help.
This is a picture from Hollywoodracks.com. It is the Hollywood Buzz, nice, but not what I am looking for right now. What I want is the Crossbars that it is mounted to.
I believe this is a Mazda 6 that it is on. I have searched the Mazda sites thinking it is OEM, but haven't had any luck yet.
I have e-mail Hollywoodracks with no luck either.
If you know what it is, please speak up,

You mean the cross bars and feet that sit on the roof and latch down in the door jams?
Are these for your MINI, and if so what year?

Yes, the cross bar and feet in the picture.
I am looking for my 06 MINI. I reallize, the ones in the picture are not intended for the mini, but I like the way they look. If I could find it or something very similar, I would try to adjust it to work for me.
I like the clean rounded edges at the end and the lower overall profile of it.

I found nothing on international mazda either... actually, the stock Mini OE rack (R50/53) has those rounded edges as well, but bolts to the roof. When it's not on, there are caps that go over the bolt holes. Some don't object ot that, some do.
Deciphering the address on the posted photo, it's just an image shack photo, the only clue is the photo name "baseroofrackae8". Any roof rack manufacturers have "ae" in their names?
No, I don't think American Eagle makes roof racks...

Thanks for trying Dixon!
I don't car for how high the Mini OEM rack sit. And, I guess, I am one of those that isn't too fond of putting holes in the roof either.
I hosted that picture from imageshack. I saved it from the Hollywoodracks site HERE. "Base roof rack" is what I named it in my pictures folder.
Thanks again, posting here is pretty much my last ditch effort. It isn't looking too good at this point,
I really thought the NAM group was going to come through within a couple days on this one.

Found it! HERE! It is a Sportrack "Mondial"
However, I'm not any closer to be able to buy it. Thule now owns the company and they don't allow this bar to be sold in the US. I can buy it from Canada though.
But another problem. Mini isn't in their "fit guide". The bar comes in 15 different lengths!!!
That is great for a good fit, but I can't find anything on what lengths come in different kits to be able to order somthing. It also has 4 different types of hooks to clamp onto different cars.
I did notice that one NAM member on here has use this before, maybe he can chime in if he knows anymore on what kit might fit the best?

What are your rain gutter made of. That is probably the most crucial factor in getting after market rack to fit the car. if the rain gutters are made of rubber like on the current 07/08's then you can not get a rack to mount that way as the rain gutters will just come off the car if to much preasure is applied.
And if you look carefully that rack mount into the door opening. i have had racks that do that before and they cause the gaskets to leak. Not a good thing when you are sitting there getting dripped on while driving in a rain storm.

Twon, based on your sigpic I'm assuming you're R53, here's a pic of how my current Barrecrafters rack mounts.

Note that the mount use the "raingutters" as tension points, but the "clip" (part that touches the car to apply tension) puts this force low on the mounting point for better strength. I haven't had any problems with the mounting - but have gone primarily to a hitch mount (MiniDoMore receiver hitch, a hitch mounted bike rack, and a Reese hitch mounted luggage carrier/box) as it doesn't touch the car at all and is easier to load bikes and stuff on. If you're transporting kayaks or skis, however, the hitch rack is perhaps less useful....
