Barcode Decal?!

I'm moving up to Orlando for college this august and as you can imagine, i'm pretty excited. I discovered one enormous buzzkill, however. The place i'll be living uses a scanner to identify and allow residents to enter the complex. This requires cars to have a barcode decal placed on the side.

Help! Does anyone know of a way around this? How can i let them vandalize my baby like that! I think it'll look especially bad on a mini because its lower than most cars and the sticker has to be placed at a certain height. Also, it'll totally ruin how the sleek and seamless the two side windows look! (i have tints)

I don't think it is that bad at all. I mean the look of it.

Well, how large is this thing?

Maybe the people at aestetic creations could make you
another sticker to put beside/over it.

"welcome to the new world order"
or
"your children next"

(insert other ideas)

In college a lot of people I knew used plexiglass holder that was suction cupped to their rear window. That may help you.

Most housing complexes that have barcodes also have keypads (usually reserved for guests); if yours has a keypad, I don't see why you couldn't use it exclusively once you get the code, and bypass the decal altogether...

And depending on where exactly it'll be placed on the MINI, make it a magnet like the grill badges - it's removable?

The plexiglas suction thing isn't a bad idea... Or perhaps make it into a static sticker (not an actual sticker) so it's still removable.

I'd go with condor's idea - make it into something funny.

I've actually seen a MINI around here before with a bar code on the side and it actually looked pretty cool.

If I were you I'd skip using the key pad and just deal with the bar code. I have a gate where I live, 2 options, key pad or garage door clicker. When it is raining you do not want to have to roll your window down to enter a code (trust me it rains a ton here in florida over the summer).

What college you going to? Where about in Orlando? You will need to join sunshineminis.org if you aren't already a member

yeah, i guess i may have been a bit over dramatic. thanks for your ideas. I'll be attending UCF and be staying at Pegasus Landing. Yeah, i've heard that theres a strong mini community there, along with this super respected mechanic named Eddie.
If i had a PW/B or AB/W i would totally embraces the code. ha, i found this on google, thought it was mildly appropriate, i hope the owner doesnt mind...

Anyway, i have a CR/CR with black accents, so i'm going to look into the plexiglass or if they have keypad entry

Just have the barcode tattooed on the side of your head and keep it shaved for as long as you live there.

I put it on Plexiglas and would hold it up as I went by the scanner. They (complex management) may not like that because the barcode is how they tell who belongs and who doesn't. Mine kept getting stolen so I stopped caring about that.

Davo, you have one sweet looking ride. Yeah, the barcode doesn't look bad at all...but you do have one killer car.

Anyway, i'm off to supercuts, then stopping by Tattoo's by Lou, haha.

Ya, my apartment complex does the same thing here. As you've seen, the sticker isn't really all that bad. After a while I barely notice it.

One thing though. When the time comes to remove it, you're going to need a razor blade to do it. It'll tear like nobody's business if you try to peel it off by hand.

Mini Pirate has a bar code decal that installs above the side indicator. I'm sure if you provided Phil with the numbers he would sort it out.

The only problem may be the height.

Yeah Eddie is really cool. I haven't worked with him business wise yet, but have met and talked with him at some meets.
Hope to see you around here sometime for a meet

The bar code on a window is the universal symbol for thugs to mug a tourist.
I wouldn't like having it either, but what are you gonna do!
I say put it as far back and down on the rear window as possible.
