Which gas to you prefer/gives you better perfomance?

I figure I'd post here since other states/areas sometimes don't have the name gas stations.

BP
Mobil
Shell
no-name brand (Thortons, Clark, etc...)

I've done 2 consecutive fill ups with Shell and BP and only 1 so far with Mobil. So far, BP wins with Shell coming in for a close second. I don't get as much pick up or as good of gas mileage with Mobil.

I'm talking for a basic Cooper non-sport.

heh, hardcore gas fanatics also only go to gas stations where there are separate hoses for each grade of fuel so you don't get ~1gal of other type in the hose leftover from the previous person

I don't worry too much about that in the car, but I do on the motorcycle since I usually only fill about 3 gallons.

Changes in weather temperature have more of a significant impact to my "seat of the pants horsepower detector" than gasoline from a different gas station. I've never noticed a difference pulling out of a gas station with a new tank of Shell gasoline as opposed to when I pulled in a few minutes prior when I had been burning Citgo gasoline, for example. But if the next day or evening is 20 degrees warmer, it does certainly feel like the car is more sluggish...

Excellent point. I never thought of that before...

MINI recommends premium gas. My first choice is Shell V-Power (octane rating of 93) and second choice is BP Ultimate (octane rating of 93).

What is the most you have put in

I just filled up with 14.3 gallons, I would have gone further, but my copilot was starting to get hysterical and it cost me 20 cents a gallon! So my JCW order just got pushed back a little further.

Will the little gas pump start blinking just before the tank goes dry?

The only one I avoid like the plague is Citgo, since it's a state-owned money-maker of the Gov't of Venezuela (aka Hugo "fidel" Chavez).
