R56 Replacing my order 08MCS to 09MCS?
you don't have to take delivery of the car. you haven't signed anything that says you are taking the car. you can refuse it once it arrives. I would talk to the dealer and work it out before hand of course.
i've thought about selling my 08 mcs and getting an 09 jcw version... couldn't bring myself to do it.

Shoulda ordered an 09...

Nah, I couldn't have waited...
I didn't want to wait either... The point I was making was that the new model year barely makes up for the price increase...

Configurator says 2009 but when you save to a text file it says 2008.
Also, packages are changing in 2009 and there is no change yet in configurator. I'm in discussions with my MA now about changing from MC to MCS which would result in having to wait for 2009 build slot. MA says no pricing until sometime in August.

When I ordered my 08 back in Jan 08, my MA mentioned to me, several times, that I don't have to take delivery and the deposit will be returned to me. I have never suggested to him that there's a possibility that I would change my mind about the car, so it's a little strange that he mentioned that policy several times to me. It's almost as if he didn't want me to take delivery for some reason.
There is no change in the car or price so why get a 2009? It is a year newer but you will have low miles for a 2008 since you are getting it at the end verses an early 2009 and have high miles :-D that is how I look at it.

I have booked a waiting list spot at my dealer for an '09S but there is no confirmed build date yet, nor is there pricing available...as far as I know.
Expectation is for a build in mid-Sept. with delivery late Oct.
They happily took a $1000 deposit to hold my spot in line.

They can probably make more selling it off the lot than to you. If you don't take it, in effect they get an increased allocation.
I'm on MiniUsa right now, and some of the prices have changed for the 09. It shows DSC as standard on the 09 Cooper S and it now has a base MSRP of $21,850, in comparison to the 08 $21,200.
It shows the sport package as unavailable until 12/08, and it will now only include DTC, Xenons, stripes, white signals, and choice of 17'' wheels.
The convenience package is only $1250 now, but it only has the normal Bluetooth/Ipod adapter, not the comfort. It prompts you to include the Comfort version for an additional $500. (So you don't get the MFSW and armrest in the package anymore)
I'm not familiar with what the premium package used to have, so I don't know if it changed, but the Cold Weather package is the same.
All in all, attempting to spec the exact same MCS as the 08 I would have ordered, will now cost me $27,550 instead of $26,550. (I didn't want DSC and the old full convenience package was cheaper).
Hopefully the changeover hasn't actually occured yet, as I'd really not want to pay an extra $1,000 just because of the new model year.

That is what I found too. There are different packages with different features now and the MFSW is not included in the packages like it was. Built it again like the one I ordered and it added up to over $1000 more. Glad I ordered when I did! I still would do it even for a more money.
Same total price.
I just re-configured my 2008 for the 2009 MCS and the cost came out the exact same ($28,274). I added the Comfort Bluetooth for $500 in the convenience package and it included the MFSW and Arm Rest which I would have added separately anyway.
Literally the only difference between the 2 year models for my configuration is that the Sirius no longer includes a lifetime subscription.

I could definitely see that. I guess it depends on what options you have. What put mine into more money was when I had to add the 17" wheels and the MFSW to the 09..... unless I added something twice without realizing it.
Nope, looked at my build list of the one I ordered and configured the 09 with same features and shows $850.00 more.

If you play around with the packages you'll notice the sport package is unavailable until December 2008 - note they're offering DTC instead of DSC. DTC is currently only available in the MINI JCW.
ok maybe i'm slow, so does that mean the order i just placed for an 09 which included sport originally will have to be replaced with the individual components separately? Given that path, like other it increases my original 09 build to now 1000 more minus dtc. Hmmm . . .
