DLR Price at Pickup

Minis are more and more in demand and dealers are having no problems selling their inventory. That said, has anyone had a dealer increae the price above the price at the time of ordering? I have heard dealers are selling Minis over MSRP and I am concerned my dealer will try to increase its margin when my Clubman is ready to be picked up. After all if I walked out they could sell mine the same day at the price they want.

If you place an order & leave a deposit the paperwork will have the sale/purchase price. Once you sign they can't change the price.

Astro alot of prices are going up cause of demand. And the transportation
industry that carries the cars are hiking up there prices way more because of fuel cost. You know how much diesel is these days. I feel bad for some of these truckers. So I know that the prices on are cars unloaded have gone up
in the last few months. So keep that in mind.

No cost increase but there is a fuel surcharge on mine. $65 as I recall.

Whiff,

I agree that the dealer can't change the price but I have heard of several people who have gone to the dealer and the dealer has added $500 or $1000 over MSRP despite the signed order. The dealer would have a very difficult time trying to change the price on me after signing the order but I was wanting to see if it was becoming more prevalent. Thanks.

When you sign and make a down payment, the dealer can't increase the price. You have a contract.
Besides, would ANY dealer like us blogging about them trying to screw us over even more?

If you paid a markup over msrp, does this show up as a line item on your sales slip?

See you shouldn't have named your car before you got it. What if Zuggy is purchased by someone else? I'm sure your dealer will sell you your car for the agreed price. Your MA just wants to deliver the car and move on to the next sale.

When I paid my deposit the dealer didn't have me sign on a agreed price. He had me sign a sheet that just had what I ordered on it. No pricing. On the back of the order it does say that the dealership reserves the right to change the list price. Should I be worried?

Don't worry.
No dealer would be stupid enough to attempt to jack up the price after the order.
My dealer NEVER processed my down payment on my credit card.
The finance manager was pissed at the sales dude for that.

They're getting MSRP and are happy with that greed.

Sleep tonight without worry.

When I placed my order, I got a receipt for my deposit and a sheet listing all the options and a selling price. I was a little nervous since this wasn't a legally binding document and it wasn't signed by anyone but me (there's a line for sales manager's signature, but he wasn't around that day). Still, there were no issues getting my car for MSRP, even though this particular dealer is now asking $3500 over for ordered Clubmans or $5k for the one on the lot.

Picked mine up yesterday -- no markup. Paid MSRP -- no surcharge. I have not heard of people paying over MSRP in the Northeast. Seems to be most commonly mentioned in California. But these prices, MSRP or not, do not change along the way from order to delivery. Haven't heard of last minute price hikes.

Got a few little trinkets thrown in, too. I think they give them to everyone taking delivery of a car. I'm talking about key chains and cargo organizers -- that kind of thing. I suspect them to be the items that don't sell, so they get a little good will out of them. I would not have bought them, but they didn't have to give me anything beyond the car for the agreed-upon deal. I left feeling about as good as one can feel about a car dealer. Another plus for Mini.

In a very strange way, the high demand made the whole buying experience more pleasant. With nothing much to negotiate, there's not much opportunity for aggravation. Of course, we "buy" that improvement in a way, but I don't mind.

A deposit by the purchaser and it's acceptance by the seller is a 'good faith" contract. The dealer promises to sell the car, the purchaser must make every attempt to finalize the sale i.e. get a loan/secure financing.

I signed my build sheet/vehicle inquiry report (with a price + dealership fee) No dealer can add to the amount once this is done, it would be highly unethical.

Yes, costs have risen on many products due to energy costs, but the money Astro is referring to would go to the dealer's profit margin; not to transportation or production costs. It's simply money extra in the dealer's pocket.
