Sport Stripe width and gap?

Hey Clubman owners!

Wondering if any of you with the sport stripes option can tell me:

1) what the width of the stripes are, and
2) what the spacing/gap in between the stripes are

This option is not available in Canada, and want to pass the specs to a local vinyl installer.

Thanks in advance!!!

Thanks Chilao. Mike's site is great if I'm looking to do the work myself and order from AC, but I'm looking for specs to pass on to a local vinyl shop.

I don't think that info is there - or did I miss it?

I measured my stripes - width 5 5/16" with a gap of 1 1/4". Hope that helps...

Who told you they aren't available in Canada? Ask you dealership parts dept. to order the following P/Ns (Colour/Sunroof Despendant)...

Front and Rear Sport Stripes...
White: 51-14-0-407-143
Black: 51-14-0-407-144
Silver: 51-14-0-434-973

If you DO NOT have a sunroof you can add the roof stripes...
White: 51-14-0-434-974
Black: 51-14-0-434-975
Silver: 51-14-0-434-976

I know they are available but if they still say they can't then PM me and I'll send them to you from Toronto.

Cheers,
Jason.

joep - thanks so much for taking the time!!! Much appreciated! Your cartoon sig looks like viper stripes though which extend to the width of the front scoop. I'm looking for the ones that are narrower than the scoop. Can you confirm which you have?

macmanjpc- the local dealer here in Calgary. Anything other than standard bonnet stripes is outsourced locally (is what I was told).

Thanks for the offer! Do you know if they are hard to install yourself?

I think I should qualify... Cooperation threw the JCW logo on my sig... I'm guessing because I have the JCW wheels, and will get the Stage 1 tuning kit when it is available.

It is "just" a Cooper S Clubman though. Sorry if I've burst a bubble.

To answer your question, my car is awaiting rail transport from the Halifax Autoport (Nova Scotia) to another transport hub in Edmonton (Alberta). From there, I'm guessing it's brought down to Calgary by truck.

I should have it by the end of the month (I hope).

Here's my 3 week old Pepper White and Black/Black Clubman with a fresh detail job and Prima Epic. Still pretty stock with the exception of the tint, custom 3M sport stripes and the complete swap out of all non-Xenon bulbs with ultra whites and stealths.

Lemme know whatcha think...

macmanjpc - thanks for posting! I appreciate you taking the time!

Your stripes are wider than I was thinking for myself, but they look good too!

Can you tell me more about:

1) your window tinting
2) the replacement bulbs

Thanks!

Not much to say really. Tint is, I believe, I shade darker than legal on the front and the rear is a shade lighter than limo tint but darker than the front.

As for bulbs. Do a search here on NAM for Stealth Bulbs and Ultra Whites Bulbs and I'm sure you'll find a wealth of info. I personally can't stand orange reflections in the turn signals, front & rear or the side markers, so I use mirrored Stealth Bulbs in all those. As for the Fogs and Parking Lamps I hate the yellowish colour compared to the Xenons. So I find that ultra white bulbs help make them look closer in colour. The Fogs for the R55 and R56 are H3 and the glass on the bulb will appear blue with tip dipped silver. The parking lights are 194 Wedge Bulbs, also blue glass and then mirrored like the stealth bulbs so that you don't see the blue in the reflector. Basically the mirror on these and the Stealths make them almost invisible in the housing but still light up the proper colour when illuminated. The flashers will flash orange and the parking lights will appear bright white.

Good luck!
Jason.

Thanks Jason! The lights look "just right" in your pics!

We're they hard to replace? Can you do it yourself?

Yeah, they're easy. Turn the steering wheel all the way to one side, remove the outer access panels inside the wheel well to get at the fogs/parking lights. Same thing goes for the turn signals in the headlights. Turn the access panel cover and get at the housing from behind.

Once done one side start the car and turn the wheel all the way to the other side and repeat.

For the side markers, open the hood and slide (sharp tug) the whole housing towards the front of the car. The whole thing will pop out and you'll have access to the plug in the back.

Rear signals are pretty cool. Open the barn doors. One torx screw on each and you'll unhook the whole light housing. Remove the plug on the back and then take the whole back off. They''re just clipped in. Replace your bulb and replace.

That's it.

Good luck.

Jason.
