OBDII code checker
Hi
what OBD code checker are you using and why?
Is there one specifically for a MINI?
looking to spend around $100 or less and looking for recommendations.
thanks

A year or two ago I got an Actron (model #CP 9135) on eBay for about $75. At that time Autozone wanted about $140 for the same thing. Works great and there are always plenty listing for these.

I use the ScanGuage II. I got it online from Way Motor Works. Around $150.00. Not only reads and resets codes it gives tons of other infor such as intake temp, water temp, corrections for tire size, dozens of trip calculations etc...I am really happy with it.
I have the Autotap. It is software you load on your laptop and plug in a usb to ODBII plug. It not only reads and clears codes, but also all sorts of other engine sensors and logs them. Price $200.
I second the ScanGaugeII. If you look around you can get one for less than $150 shipped. I think I paid $130... can't quite remember.
Nice unit, it's not just a code reader but it can also act as a set of 4 gauges. You just velcro it to the dash and plug it in and set which gauges you want to see. Very nice.
