I have 27k on the clock, MAINTANENCE warranty runs out maniana with 2k showing left to go. Is it worth $1300 for the 6yr 100k deal or not also would mini do my inpection 1 service with 2k left on the clock?
Oh wise ones let me know......

Are you a DIY'er? Do you like to work on your car? Is it an additional 6yr 100k from now? Interest rate on $1300? That's less than $20 a month, not bad. As long as you don't put 50k a year on it.
Me, all the "issues" I've had are self induced, no warranty. If peice of mind is your goal, might be what you should do.
So..YES.
ps. are you saying Mañana?
What?? If your saying you can get an extended warranty that goes 6 more years or up to 100k, I would say yes, as long as there is not a big deductible or a bunch of limitations.
This in not a warranty, it is the Mini maintenence plan
It's also not another 6 years like some posters think... its extending it to a TOTAL of 6 years or 100k miles. So, it's 3 extra years or 76k more miles (in your case).
If you can change your own oil, and air filter and easy stuff like that... I think that extending it is marginal. It does give you a certain peace of mind that the maintenance stuff is covered though.

My Mini advisor claims that the clutch wear is also covered under this extented service plan. I need to call Mini to find out more details on this, but that alone would make it worth it IMO.
Oh, if you haven't had your brakes done yet, these are also covered. The dealership said a front & rear brake job runs about $900. Add that to a clutch job that would take up to 10hrs of labor and the 3 milestone services (50k, 75k & 100k?) at $500 each and the plan easily pays for itself.
I have to check, I've heard others say clutch was covered too and I didn't know that if true. I do brakes and oil, but there's something to be said for the car going up on a lift and someone with a experienced eye going over it.
They even found I had two slightly bent wheels once. Since I plan to keep it a long long time, I went for the x maint even though a lot of what's sched is just 'look ats' or 'inspects'. I felt it was worth it for the thorough inspections I just can't do in a driveway or garage.

I say no. Oil changes run around $65 from a trusted indy mechanic & Iam willing to bet if you try to get a new clutch out of them there is a very good chance they will say it is worn because you abused it & it won't be covered under the maintenance warranty
When Mini's accountants / actuaries calculate the cost/profit of such plans they factor in that they get your money earlier, in which case they do a present value calculation.
The extended plan also guarantees MINI that they do, in fact, get any money from you at all. They realize that, once the scheduled maintenance and/or warrantee are expired, the only thing you're buying from them is parts that you can't get cheaper somewhere else via aftermarket or reconditioned.
The dealership also realizes that many owners won't be coming back for service when these plans expire, especially if the nearest dealership is an hour drive.
So, kind of as a trade off, the cost of these extended plans are usually based on a much lower profit margin than if you paid full price. As an example, spark plugs are replaced under the schedule maintenance program. If you have a JCW and no extended service plan, the dealerships will charge you as much as $35 each for JCW plugs. But these can be purchased in the aftermarket for $8 each. So in calculating the price of the plan, MINI may assign a value of $10 per plug. That's $100 less than if you paid them full price, but still $40 more than if you went the aftermarket route. The same applies to the dealership's labor. If you don't want to pay their hourly rate you'll go elsewhere, so they're willing to accept the lower rate (probably based on the job, not hourly) they receive from MINI under the plan.
Lastly, these plans are a way for us to hedge against exorbitant maintenance costs. Worst case scenario, what if you don't get the plan and end up needing 2 brake jobs, a clutch and 3 milestone service jobs by the time you hit 100k? The parts alone would cost you more than $1300.
Sorry if this is confusing.
That's what is hanging me up. Do they replace the clutch only as needed, or is it truly scheduled maintenance?
We bought it at 34,000 miles. Just brought in our car for the next scheduled maintenance at 49,000 miles. Pointed out that the clutch felt a little "off". Picked up the car the next morning and they had given us a new clutch.
I'm very happy we got the extended maintenance.

I guess it's just a gamble & you have to roll the dice or not if you choose. If they told me in no uncertain terms the clutch was covered under this extended plan I would make them point out where it said so in the contract & if the wording was iffy I would get them to clarify that wording in writing before I purchased it.
I think around my town a clutch can be replaced for just under $1K by an indy mechanic.
