Clubman Sunroof issue

My Sunroof has a habit of being like a scared turtle.
If it has been a few days and I try to Open it, It quickly Closes again.
I read somewhere that it has a safety anti-pinch "Feature".
I can push up on the rear part to assist and it opens and works OK until it is unused again for a few days.
Is there any adjustments I can make? Something I can lubricate?
I hate to drive two hours to the dealer for a sunroof problem

Any Advice?

I have the opposite issue. When it's open, and I push the toggle to close it, it closes and then pops open again. If you do a search you'll find a thread on sunroofs that won't open at all. So, we have it all, won't stay open, won't stay closed, won't open, won't close. I think these all may be related to some basic design flaw or control issue for the sunroof, but so far no one seems to have an answer on what that may be.

Oh, great. I ordered the sunroof. Anyone not having problems? I'd really like to take delivery of the car and not have to make repeated trips to the dealer.

You probably want to follow the 6 page thread over in the 2nd gen issues forum about this subject:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...=137737&page=6

Lot's of people having the same issue (including me). Someone just posted that they theirs is working after having the sunroof transmission and guides lubricated by the dealer.

sunroof woes

Well sometimes the newer cars still have a early verison software sometimes you have to bring it to the dealer to have the sunroof reinitialized

Also try this for those of you who live far. Toggle the sunroof switch forward like in a up position the vent position should open continue to hold it.
for like 30 seconds to minute and see if it ocmes back to life.

After reading a few threads on this I have decided to try and lubricate the SunRoof Slides. Should I use Silicon or White Lithium grease?
Anyone know what is best?
Anyone feel it is wrong to lube the SunRoof?
Anyone actually try this and it helped or not helped the issue?

I have a similar problem, but only on really hot days, and not too frequently. So far, I've simply rolled back the screen and pushed up on the sunroof while hitting the switch, and it simply rolls up. Hasn't occurred frequently enough for me to get over to the dealer for maintainance, though if it keeps coming up (or failing to do so) I will have to go on in. I am lucky enough to live only five miles away from the dealership.

Neither... neither will help. There is a problem and now a TSB from Mini but at least they admit there is a problem and though they don't have a cure, at least they are working on one.

Good luck guys... I'm waiting too.

I've got the same issue.... only happens when it's real hot. Seems that the gaskets must expand and make it hard for the roof to open on it's own. It probably thinks a heavy object is sitting on it and some sort of a circuit breaker shuts it off in an effort to prevent burning out the motor.

I just roll up the shades and push the rear panel upwards as I operate the switch. It works every time.

We've been having the same issue with our 08 Clubman, and have also experienced it in 4 or 5 dealer vehicles we've driven.

There's clearly an issue that needs to be addressed.

Same issue here. Watching the rear section as it open/closes will show you it is not a smooth motion. Mine tends to have small stutters or jerks and this seems to be exacerbated by exposure to heat. Manual assist either from inside or outside is needed. I have faith they'll come up with something to fix it.
